Ahh - yet another of the eternal debates. You'll get a lot of arguments from both sides but let me sum it up the major points for you.

TRD
Pro: Nice because it replaces the entire shifter so it's more solid.
Dealer won't give you any crap about it if they find it.

Con: It's more expensive.

URD
Pro: MUCH more affordable.
Tried and true alternative to the TRD (I've ran mine for 2 years without any problem).
Con: You could possibly run into an issue if the dealer finds it on there --- but I've personally never heard of this happening.

You're really gonna have to go with your gut on the purchase. I've kinda learned that you're either a TRD-guy and you buy all their stuff, or you aren't and you just buy what you want. Nothing wrong with either... :top: Good luck on the purchase!

When I bitched about the trans to my dealer the shifter is the first thing they went after to try to deny my claim (and it was a TRD part).

The TRD feels much shorter and notchy then the URD.

True... But if worst come to worst and you have a tranny issue with the URD in it only takes 20 - 30 mins to take out. Ups and downs with both, just like every other similar after market part that is manufactured by different company's

If you ever have a tranny problem and you have the URD, just take it off. It's really easy.

Wonder if they would give me crap if I need to do that. The sealant I use is black and theirs is red. SO would they say I messed it up

Unless you lock your transmission up while driving it and you have to get it towed to the dealer. if I had the URD I would get it towed to my house first, remove it, then pay for it to be towed again to the dealer. May cost you 100$ extra or so to do it this way but its better then them not warrantying it.

They stopped giving me **** when I told them the dealer installed the TRD shifter.

Both are really good products. Since you want a shorter shift AND a shorter shifter arm...go with TRD. The URD actually raises the shifter arm because all it is is a spacer plate

B&M is pretty good. Heard nothing but good things. Michael (wshsbears) had the URD and switched to the B&M. You could tell he was happy as hell with it on the phone

I prefer the URD for the SS. They have a proven shorter throw then the TRD....meaning quicker shifts. Also Gadget has them on sale right now...really good deal!!:top:
