Just curious how everyones liking the URD Pulley on their TRD? Any problems with pinging/detonation in this heat? How many people have the pulley without a tune and running 91 octane?

not everyone has had problems with it w/o a tune. But you do need a tune..

unless you like running rich and pinging

pinging is a result of being lean. Running rich just makes the engine very sluggish and burns the valves

Ive been running the pulley from day one of the trd supercharger, and i have had no problems, got 65,000 miles with 15,000 with the s/c. Afr is like 10.9 to 11.1. Full headers to true dual 2.5 exhaust and a big aem intake. No tune. But will in the future.

We'll Im just saying we have an certain az member running very rich with the pulley and without his "mist" the truck pings

im happy to say my truck does not ping...still considering the pulley, but only after the warranty is gone

I have the pulley on mine, wideband shows plenty rich but im not 100% trusting my wideband at the moment.

Runs a lot smoother with methanol going. I really didn't see much of a PSI increase since it's so dam hot in AZ.

yea i have a few. Mostly important it's just so freaking hot here that i wanted to let the reflash take care of the timing control.

I'm hoping (once i get a piggyback for fuel) that the ECU will adjust timing accordingly with the temperatures and what not.

you gotten any faster yet?

I havent been to the track yet this season, i plan to soon but i've been on a kinda tight budget, dont want to break anything. Since the last time i've been to the track, last time i had 255's with 41 lb 20'' wheels, my new wheels are 35 lbs each and i fit 295's on those babies, so for traction and rotating mass im sitting in a much better position since my last trip to the track. My only problem now is a hard shift into second gear and the clutch slips like a greased up fat chick running through a doorway with a twinkey on the other side :hmmmm2:

I need a piggyback before i can tune it. Right now my wideband shows me running really rich, but my wideband has been weird lately. I think it may have been pinging here and there a little bit, but now my methanol kit is up and running and it seems to be much smoother. Also boost saw a slight increase from it.

you say you need a piggyback for fuel? whos making that now? what is it just a fuel pump?? I heard these injectors were substantial... or was i wrong

The injectors are just fine, but i have no way to control how much they are dumping. I would still need a MAF calibrator or MapECU2, etc. (which i plan to get).

I'm hoping for a good gain once it's leaned out a bit.

if your still running the 20s the 295s are still not gonna help much. you need some tires on the rear that have a lot more sidewall then what you have now. the extra little width with help, but not nowheres nears it will with more sidewall.

and there are a couple companies now carrying clutches over here. paradise racing, and TTC.

I was lean before the pulley with all my mods. we tested themap ecu2 and still on the lean side much it was much improved. so we then tested the fuel pump upgrade and riched the heck out of it.. now I'm at 10.5 afr and I'm right around my 340 rwhp.

however to answer ur orginal question we (urd GADGET) and I found the ecu adjusted nicely to the pulley. summer days I'm seeing 7psi (before it was 5) on cooler nights @ actually would see 8 for a few seconds.. so I netted about 2 psi. search for my dynos. I think on the dyno I gained like 20 rwhp (stud power) with the pulley and cat back (urd of coarse) ?? I enjoy the extra power and feel its the cheapest hp gain u can get. I don't think everyone will need a tune either.. really depends on the truck.

I do want to test meth once we figure out if its ok running it thru the trd unit. (hint hint vendors). I think the meth will be a nice increase in power.. I'd love to break 350 plus rwhp.. coarse if I had just gotten the urd unit to start off I would be over 350.. oh well I guess u live and learn..

all the testing and all my add on were all from ad installed by urd. I highly suggest speak to gadget if u have any questions after working with me and a few others, the dude knows what's up!! if he would only tell me about meth I might give him a hug.....lol
