Found it!!

http://www.customtacos.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=107401&highlight=supercharger+problem

Not sure if it was due to meth or not though:hmmmm2:. Either way, that coating is not impenetrable. I would be careful either way.

Or figure out a way to inject the meth after the charger via direct port injection? :dontknow:

I figured a way around it would be to plumb the meth nozzle on the discharge side of the blower or direct port into the intake runners themselves.

It appears that his blower has bearing problems.

That would be cool on the discharge side, after the intercooler though? Then you wouldn't have to worry about the meth getting into the bearings and burning them up or the seals and erroding them.

Yeah right after the intercooler.

I don't know how equal the dispersion would be into the cylinders though being so close to the ports (and not being direct inject).

I suppose a two nozzle system on each side and smaller jets would be best.

The most practical way is injection before the blower, just wish any possible effects of it were more definitive at this point.

You referring to where i placed the nozzle? It's between the MAF sensor and Throttle body on the TRD intake.

For people with a lead foot in hot climates/summer months it will be sprayed a lot more then that brother!

I'm driving from Colorado to Washington state tomorrow to climb Mt. Rainier. I am purposely starting the drive at 9PM as going through Western CO and Utah is pretty toasty lately. Green river Utah will hit 103 tomorrow making IAT's of close to 120 in the day, not a good idea with the smaller pulley.

I can knock 20 degrees off my Inlet Air Temps if I drive at night.

I am interested in meth / H20 as well but want to see how it all goes for awhile...

pinging is a result of being lean. Running rich just makes the engine very sluggish and burns the valves
Also washes the cylinder walls with gas removing oil resulting in less lubrication leading to the seizing of the pistons and blown rings..

sound like fun ehh...

So are you still running untuned with the meth and the pulley? do you still have your knocklight set up and have you had/noticed any pinging lately with the meth?

I was lean before the pulley with all my mods. we tested themap ecu2 and still on the lean side much it was much improved. so we then tested the fuel pump upgrade and riched the heck out of it.. now I'm at 10.5 afr and I'm right around my 340 rwhp.

however to answer ur orginal question we (urd GADGET) and I found the ecu adjusted nicely to the pulley. summer days I'm seeing 7psi (before it was 5) on cooler nights @ actually would see 8 for a few seconds.. so I netted about 2 psi. search for my dynos. I think on the dyno I gained like 20 rwhp (stud power) with the pulley and cat back (urd of coarse) ?? I enjoy the extra power and feel its the cheapest hp gain u can get. I don't think everyone will need a tune either.. really depends on the truck.

So you're running the pulley without any tuning? have you noticed any pinging?

my only concern with running that pulley is ever since i took off my maf calibrator, i think i might have a short in my wiring, cause every once in a while i will be driving and all of the sudden the fuel will cut out. and the truck will sit at a high idle. my foot will be to the floor (in neutral) and the truck will be sitting at like 1300 rpm. and the check engine light will go on. Ill shut the truck off, then turn it back on and its perfectly normal again, and the check engine light will stay on for like a day. I took it back to the dealer and all they did was replace the throttle position sensor. it ran well for a while then just did it again, randomly. i really dont want to go back into that wiring harness. that things a pain in the a$$

has anyone else experienced this or something similar?

How tough was the pulley install and what does it involve? i know it needs the special tool, but what else, and approximately how long?

No knock at all when meth is active. Not positive on the accuracy of the light, but it only flashes if i disable the meth and go WOT

Sounds to me like something in the harness shorting out like you said.

currently I have a custom gadget tune.. how ever the dealer f'd up the mapecu so urd swapped it out under warrty.. I've been to lazy to put it back it. but I'm not driven the truck very much..

also on the meth deal I emailed bob gardener at trd (lead guy)... he point blank said it would void my warrty and high suggested I say away... this is a guy who to this pointhas no problems with any of my other mods (he knows about them all) and has never said not to try something... not sure what it worth to u guys but I'm gonna say no to drugs..

So what is it exactly that needs to be done that you do with the map ecu2 ?? just correct the AFR to keep it from running too lean? did you need to retard the timing also?

.

is that just on hot days? or pretty much all the time?
