Anyone do transmission gearing yet?

Seeing if anyone has tackled either changing the insides of our tranny or seeing if we could put a different trans up under our trucks. I am tired of our trans. If you ever have driven with a T-56 trans, you would know why I hate our trans. The gearing is ALL off for any type of racing/driving. I might call up a local trans/rear end specialist and see what they can do.

yeah, but Dallas was talking about doing something with the trans. I cant remember what he was wanting to put in though, but said he found a good setup.

a t-56 swap would be the 'tits' as DS would say!

I would to have that trans paired with a 3.56 rear end. AWESOME acceleration, with better then stock highway.

OH gawd. I wish we could do the T-56 swap. Anything is possible...but I aint rich. lol

For people who don't know, the T-56 is the SEXXX.

Dodge Vipers, Shelby Cobras, Camaro SS, C5 Z06 (i think), '03-04 Cobras. These trans' are bullet proof. Close friend has a 1600rwhp Viper with the STOCK trans.

wow how much would one cost and how much fabrication is needed to make it work, because that trans paired up with a s/c would be so sick. maybe some could see 12's im sure they are very rare and expensive

Its pretty close ratio on the xruuner trans so, i dont know if anybody did such a swap yet...... But i know few people did a rear gear swap already......

Like I said, it isn't the rear. Keep our 3.15's with a T-56 and you'll scream by the competition while cruising in 6th gear @ 80mph at a meer 1700rpm. :rock::rock::rock::rock:

Im starting my reserach on this after the new year to see what can be done. I think I have a guy here near where im at that may be able to help me out in getting the fab work done.

I am in the process of buying all the parts, I am doing all corvette Z06 C5 driveline. trans and independent rear axle.I have bought a tremec T56 6 speed, 3.42 differential, rear cradle, spring,swaybar,a arms,axles, hubs, and brakes. I still need the torque tube. been buying pcs off ebay. i have 1800 in it so far.

I have a 5 speed version of this in the Coupe. The first gear is a 3:56 which makes for quick acceleration.

Things to consider before you get to enthusiastic about doing a transmission swap.

1. You are going to need to machine your flywheel to accept a pilot bearing/bushing. The pilot bearing has to fit the input shaft of the transmission.

2. The clutch disc needs to match the spline of the input shaft.

3. The transmission will probably be a different length and a different mount, so you will need modify the trans mount.

4. The shifter will need to be modified for our application and the shifter may not hit the shifter boot in the console. So you might need to modify or loose the console.

5. The driveshaft may need to be shortened or lengthened with a custom slip yoke.

I have done this on other vehicles, it is an ambitious modification, unless you can find a transmission that was designed to be there.

yeah i've called a few junk yards when i was pissed about my tranny (which i still am pissed about) looking for a T56 and they all wanted between 1k-3k for them:thumpdown: once i hit that 36k mark with mine i'm just say screw my extended warranty and look mor ein depth into a T-56 swap
