Due to the amount of discussion that has been going on about the time and people being unsure of weather or not they can do the installation themselves and save the cost of installation by a mechanic so here are the installatiojn direction. I will point out that I do not condone trying to install this kit without professional supervision or help!
Sittin Sic Coil Installation
IMPORATANT
Before attempting to remove and install any automotive coils it is important that you have the proper tools and facilities. Sittin Sic does not take responsibility for any negative effects or injury that may occur while removing or installing or there after ofthe Sittin Sic coil springs.
Sittin Sic strongly recommends that an ASE certified professional handles all removal and installation of the Sittin Sic coils.
Removal of stock shock absorber and coils spring assembly
- Disconnect negative battery terminal
- take the proper steps necessary to remove front wheel
- Separate skid control sensor
- Separate front flexible hose
- Remove front upper suspension arm
- Remove front shock absorber and coil spring assembly
- Unbolt and remove the lower shock absorber nut, bolt and washer
- On the top of the assembly there are three nuts and washers that surround the front support sub-assembly retainer nut. Do not remove the retainer nut only the three surrounding nuts and washers
- Remove the assembly
Disassembly of shock and coil assembly
Important
Do not attempt unless you have spring compressor properly mounted onto the spring to avoid damage and injury.
Note:
Do not use an impact wrench in any of the following steps
- Remove the front support from front shock absorber nut
- Using the proper spring compressor compress the coil
- While holding the shock absorber rod remove the nut
- Remove front shock absorber cushion retainer
- Remove front shock absorber cushion
- Remove front suspension support sub-assembly
- Remove front coil spring insulator upper
- remove front shock absorber cushion retainer
- remove front coil spring
Reassembly of shock and coil assembly
Important
Do not attempt unless you have spring compressor properly mounted onto the spring to avoid damage and injury.
Note:
Do not use an impact wrench in any of the following steps
Make sure that the front drivers side coil that is identified by the tag is installed on the drivers side.
- Install Sittin Sic front coils
- IF necessary compress the Sittin Sic coils (due to the reduction in height of the coils compression may not be necessary)
- Install front coil spring onto the shock absorber. Fit the lower end of the front spring into the gap of the lower seat
- Install shock absorber cushion retainer
- Install coil spring insulator
- Install suspension support sub-assembly
- Be sure that the bolts line up with the upper mount holes
- Install cushion
- Install cushion retainer
- Install support to shock absorber nut
- Fit and tighten the lock nut (preferably new). Torque to 20ftlbs
- Release coil spring while checking the position of the suspension support sub-assembly
Installation
- Temporarily tighten shock absorber with coil
i. Install onto the body with the lower end of the spring facing the outer side of the truck
i. Install onto the body with the lower end of the spring facing the inner side of the truck
- Install three nuts and washers onto the upper side of the shock absorber with coil. Torque to 47ftlbs
- Temporarily tighten the lower shock mount nut, bolt and washer
i. Temporarily tighten supper suspension arm
ii. Reinstall flexible hose
iii. Reinstall skid control sensor wire
iv. Put the wheel back on
v. Lower and stabilize the suspension by bouncing the truck up and down several times
vi. Raise vehicle and remove wheel
vii. Fully tighten lower shock absorber mount nut, bolt, and washer. Torque to 61ftlbs
viii. Fully tighten upper suspension arm
ix. Reconnect negative battery cable
Align vehicle ASAP to avoid improper tire wear
