It's been a very long journey with exhausts on this truck, and hopefully this will be the final and best sounding/best performing set up.
My set up a few weeks ago was:
-DT long tubes
-URD 4x4 Y
-URD 3" with dynomax (aka quiet muffler)
This set up sounded great once warmed up. I was very satisfied with it. Except I decided to cut off the tail section one day because I wanted it to be more stealth. However in doing that ,the sound resonated under the bed and made it much louder inside and out...which I actually was ok with, but I was worried I might get pulled over for its loudness.
where I cut it...
So I took Gadgets advice and bought a second straight through magnaflow....only instead of a 18" I bought a 14" hoping it would be more quiet but not as quiet as his truck. Well it turns out this muffler combined with the dynomax shut it up almost 100%. It sounds like stock but with a weird deep drone to it. I tried to convince myself to like it but I just cant take it anymore...I want it to actually sound like it has some power under the hood. The other problem was the muffler was welded in tilted/crooked to avoid hitting the cross member...the 3" exhuast is why it's so close.
crooked shot and look how close to the cross member it is...
So I listened to many different set ups I decided ntinhri's sounded the best, but I still wanted to experiment a little, so I'm going to try this...
Im going to keep a 14" second muffler(center/center), but I will swap the 5x8x14 for a 4x9x14....this gives me the same amount of muffling material, but in a shape that will fit under the cross member...so it wont be welded crooked like it is now. It should be straight.:top:
Then I will remove the dynomax for this beast of a straight through(center/offset). It's a 22" long magnaflow 5x11. Which is actually a 6x11.5x22
Im hoping it sounds good...I wont know until monday or tuesday when it gets welded in. I will post a video when its ready.
