02/15/2010 - Chest and back

I will be doing my working tonight after work. Once I do, I will post up how many chin-ups, push-ups, etc..that I was able to do. The only info I have as of right now is my weight; only because I weighed myself last night before bed.

My starting weight is 191.4

BTW - 90 days from now we're all gonna need some duct tape because we'll be ripped:biggrin: (hopefully:laugh:)

Lol at pm david.

Just for reference, I am on my 2nd week guys. I will stick with you for the full 90 days though (and more)...

I am not a nutritional expert, but if you have questions about your diet, Im sure I can answer them. I would actually like to see your diet plans if you are not following the p90x routine...

I don't know if I'll post all my info. When it comes to workout routines I suck at commitment so I haven't bought all the shit I need. In lieu of doing pullups (b/c I don't want to invest in a $50+ pullup bar until I know I'm gonna stick with it), I will be using a curling bar with about 35-40 pounds overhead - kind of a reverse pullup. I know it's not the same, but it's something. I also only have 15 pound free weights. Also not ideal - I'd probably like a 20-25 range to start but again, I don't wanna drop any loot until I'm at least 2 weeks in. My wife already spent $60 today on a set of free weights for her but they only go up to 12 pounds --- doesn't really do me any good whatsoever. You can see how expensive this could get.

I'm gonna try to stick to this with you guys. We are going out to dinner after I get off work tonight but we plan on working out later this afternoon - chest and back(which sucks b/c this one hurts like a mother). I don't have the workout schedule - are we supposed to do abs tonight too?

Just trying to get you guys pumped up:laugh:

As of right now, my diet consists of (minus the alcohol) a salad every day, turkey sandwhich on wheat or oatnut bread, and when we went food shopping on Friday, I picked up a shit load of chicken; which will be grilled. I also bought a ton of beef jerky and whey protein (not sure if I'm really going to use that though), and I also bought some healthy snacks such as fiber/protein bars, and string cheese...and tons V8 fruit juice since it's packed with vitamins and minerals.

I picked up a nice cheap set of dumbbells from Wal-mart. They are Golds Gym brand and have adjustable weights (don't know exactly how much they go up to though)...but they were only $19.99 and they do the job so far.

^ this is basically my diet already, less the salad. Most days I come home for lunch and will have a turkey and cheese sandwich on wheat bread. We eat A LOT of chicken already cooked all kinds of ways (but never fried). We also eat plenty of potatoes, salads with dinner, and other stuff. Not remarkably healthy - but not remarkably bad either. Most mornings consist of a granola bar and/or yogurt - maybe a bagel. My vices are gonna be sodas. I don't drink a ton of soda, but I do drink it daily. My other massive vice is potato chips... probably my favorite snack food. That's probably the one thing that I eat this is straight up killing my ass.

That's what Krista got - the adjustable kind. I don't know where she got them, but $60 and only up to 12 pounds. Suckfest.

I'm not a big soda drinker, but my vices are going to be pizza and my homemade tacos. We usually eat each of those at least once a week, so cutting back on my 2 favorite meals is going to be tough...also cutting back on my 'after work' beers will probably be the hardest thing.

Klint! Sorry brotha got a lol at this. If you are referring to shoulder press as lateral pulldowns or pull ups, its completely different bro. Cheap alternative tho, get those rubber bands. I am sure you could find a set someone has on craigslist, although they cant be that much retail.

TO BOTH OF YOU- As I asked for your nutrition plan, my main concern isnt the foods you eat, but rather how often and how much you are eating. REMEMBER, at least 6 small meals a day. :top:

David, your shopping list sounded good to me. Chicken is the most important thing on your list, that and eggs (whites only).

Trust me - I totally know. But it's the best I can do right now. I'm just not in a position to sink a shit-ton of money into something else that I may not do. I know me... I lose interest quickly and this time around I'm trying to learn from the past and use what I have. If I stick with it for 2 weeks or a little longer, I'll convince myself that it's worth spending another $100-$150 on some cheap equipment. For me, this isn't about losing weight (shit I'd disappear) or getting ripped... it's about just being active. I'm a web developer and entails a hella-long time of sitting my ass in a chair. This is just to get some exercise and try to get back to healthy range instead of sedentary like my job requires.

Klint, I think Ab-RipperX is at the end of the chest & back disc so I guess that's a yes on the abs for tonight.

Walmart also has Golds Gym tension bands for about 20 bucks...that's where Krysta bought hers. They don't have enough tension as I would like, but they work for her. When I use them, I spread my legs out and step on the band, so I can make it tighter and have more resistance.

I'm really not looking forward to the abs tonight...at all:argh:.

Does your set have 3 bands (black blue & red)? I have a Gold's set too

David, that is the key to the bands. They wont snap, just use them like they use them in the video and do more reps, you will feel the burn.

No, just one long band (about 5-6 ft long) with a handle at each end...and it's green and black

Oh, ok. The 3-band set has a good bit of resistance when they're all attached. Also has the versatility to use them in different combinations or spread your feet or whatever you need. I also have a 40lb free weight for some of the back exercises and when I get the arm strength to curl it again like I used to.

That's what I was doing...once I step on the band, I grab the handle on the opposite side of my hand (i.e. right hand = left handle) and bring it up across my chest up into the air. I'll do that about 20-30 times at a pretty fast pace and it gets my heart going pretty good

P90X is the bomb...count me in on the list...that thing kicks my butt
Added you to list in first post^^^
