So then you are running stock injectors with a 1000cc 7th??.... if that is all that is needed... I may be doing this within a couple of months at most....

Yep it's stock injectors because I don't have an x-1 or a mapecu2.

^^^^theres quite a bit difference in size between the 2, wonder how much HP you'll gain from upgrading to the bigger one?

Also make sure u video a 40-90 run so u can add it to the thread for those times. Looking forward to seeing some videos of it in action:top:

Yep I can get some videos when it's all done. I won't be able to use it to it's full potential yet because of the lack of an x-1 or a mapecu, but it still should def be a pretty good improvement. I plan on getting a mapecu3 in the future, I heard they're coming out soon, and some injectors, but I just got a house so I have to control myself.

Did you uprade the intercooler? I have talked to gadget about this before once already... he said that you should swap it out for the TRD intercooler set up.

Hmm no I didn't talk about that, I didn't know you could put the trd intercooler setup on a mk1, but if gadget said it I'm sure it's true. Might have to look into it...

I thought the c38-81 and 91 were even bigger.....

The c38-91 has a bigger intake size I believe, other than that I think they're identical. As for the difference from the 71 to the 81, I'm not too sure.

yeah I would look into it. He said it's really well designed for the upgraded mk1 users

as far as the s/c goes I may be wrong but I heard the 91 is bigger than 71 but it may just be intake size.

You can use the TRD radiator with the Mk1 systems. A few people have done that. I think the TRD radiator is a better setup. I think our intercooler core is better.

All of the Rotrex C38 superchargers use the same drive housing. The difference is in the impellers and compressor covers.

The way you tell the difference between the -61, -71, -81 is the internal inlet diameter of the compressor cover. The impellers are different, but there is no way to know which is which.

The new -91 is longer. The compressor cover is taller than the rest so they can efficiently get more air pumped through it and the impeller is different as well. This adds just under 1/2" to the overall length of the supercharger compared to the others in the C38 series.

The new -92 is the same as the -91 but the OD on the inlet is 3.5" instead of 3". I have not seen one of these yet.

What kind of parts are needed and about how much does it usually run to swap to a trd setup?

You need the TRD Tacoma Fit Kit.

That includes the radiator and the hood bracket, hoses and so other things I think.

Would the intake I have now still fit with the trd intercooler? Also the supercharger oil cooler is in that same area, I don't know if it would interfere with that

Might be a bit to much work, but you could always install the MKII intercooler. Have to have maybe one custom pipe off of the blower into the intercooler, but the rest from the kit would bolt up. Then you could call it the MK 1.75 E. o_O

You will need to use the Grill craft grill to get you more room to space the filter forward so it will clear the TRD radiator. Don't forget you will need the install the splash shield with that grill.

To you the Mk2 intercooler you would have to redo to much stuff and it would end up being the Mk2 kit. If that is what you want, sell what you have and upgrade if you can find and X-1.

Gadget- i was/is planning on doing this as well. I've been meaning to send you an email, but never got around to it. I was going to ask if the Mk1's intercooler would be a weak point or contrict flow for the larger s/c? If all is well, ill be upgrading once i get everything on my truck straightened out.

The intercooler flows very well. For a while we were supplying Quantum with the same intercooler cores for their turbo hydrogen conversion vehicles. They had them tested for flow restriction and heat transfer and they came out ahead of the Honeywell cores they were using at 5 times the price.

If you feel really motivated you can cut away that 2" inlet and upgrade that to a 2.5" and move it more toward the middle of the side and rework the charge pipe to the core. I think that 2" pipe will be the bottle neck with the C38, but don't forget I pushed over 400 RWHP with the updated Mk1 system and the -71 supercharger.

Got my oil fittings today, put them on, installed all the piping and fired it up. It started right up and ran good. The belt is squeaking a little, but I think I got some oil on it from taking out the old supercharger. The check engine light is on but I think its because I turned the ignition on without the maf sensor plugged in. The negative is unplugged right now and I'll go out and try it again on the way BACK to work. Lol. Other than that, fuel pump is working fine and the supercharger sounds great, and everything fit together with no issues. And Gadget I have the grillcraft grill and a shield already, so I'm good to go there.

Oh and Gadget, is an X-1 absolutely necessary to hit 400hp with what I have?

You should be able to make more power easier with this new setup. :top: You will most likely need some form of an advanced tuner to get there and stay there safely.

The X-1 makes things a lot easier.

The problem is your stock injectors are going to max out and there is only so much fuel you can safely add with the 7th injector. It is good for a little touch up, but it would be better to start running larger primaries. This is what makes the X-1 so nice. You can set the injector size and the injector transfer function for where you have what size injectors and it automatically proportions the fuel as needed between the primary injectors and the additional injector. On the URD system it is better to get as much fuel as possible in the primary injector location and eliminate the 7th if you can. This will assure the most even fuel distribution possible. There is no benefit to a 7th injector if you don't needed to supplement fuel. Not like on the TRD where it is used to cool the compressed air coming out of the supercharger to make up for the lack of compressor efficiency.

Anyway, there is only so far you can safely go with the AIC approach. Start looking for some TRD injectors and you may want to upgrade to the MAP-ECU3 to dial in the larger primary injectors and the do whatever touch up is needed with the 7th from there. The MAP-ECU3 can tune both at the same time. The URD control unit you currently have cannot do that. It was not designed with the capability to tune primary injectors.

Now if you see a used X-1 come up, jump on it.
