http://www.xr-underground.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=37847&highlight=upload+pics+forum

Hey I have a 07 xr and I had taken it to a toyota dealer about the fender flares chipping and they replaced both asap for me no questions asked, they are ober 700cdn each. But of course the new ones did the same ****in thing! I think we should all get free paint jobs all around lol! I am also sick of the how shitty the paint is with these trucks mostly the flares but the paint chips easy anywhere.

If you take it to the dealership and talk with the right person they will replace them for you. Or at least paint them for you. but they replaced mine

How much/what type?

Dealership painted my flares and applied stone guard at no charge

Mine isn't under any type of warranty anymore. Does anyone know how much it would cost to have it done? I know that it would vary state to state, dealership to dealership, but is there a ballpark cost? mine are bad, but I can't post pics presently. I want to get them done well, so I don't have to mess with them again. What's the best thing to apply to them, stone guard or the 3M stuff I've also read about?

I dont think there is a single X in this entire forum that doesnt have this issue. The flare is bound to get hit ,because it sticks out from the main body of the truck . The best thing to do would be to repaint and then make some kind mudflap ... I'v seen it done on Rexrunner's truck .

It's a good idea to get some kind of paint protection film done to the flares after repainting. I did mine after repainting them a few years back, and had them redone again after the whole truck was repainted a few months ago. The catch is that you can't wrap them right after painting, you have to let the paint cure before the wrap goes on and that can take 4-6 weeks. If the wrap goes on prematurely, it can cause both the paint to fail as well as the wrap to rip the paint off if it ever comes off.

Not entirely sure, I would guess if it's just the flares by themselves, shouldn't be more than $100.

I had the whole truck done (flares, lower bodysides, front end, roof, Apillars, hood scoop, door edge guards, tonneau cover keyhole area, tailgate handle, etc) as part of the insurance claim for the sandstorm. The Clearbra work by itself ended up at $1500 when done by a professional. When I did it on my own, it was around $500. I opted to have it professionally done this time since insurance was paying for it (insurance wouldn't pay me to do it, so why not get it done right) and it's a royal pain to install that stuff.

Look at post #39 for what it looked like when I originally did the clearbra myself. I don't have photos yet of the lastest application by the pro shop.
