If it was between a sts turbo and a trd supercharger, I'd go for the trd. But if its between a custom turbo kit made with quality parts and a trd supercharger, I'd go turbo all day everyday. You should also consider the URD kit too. I would pick a URD supercharger over a TRD one as well.

TRD. Why buy someone else's problem? U know he had to piece together that system so u don't know if ur getting "quality" parts/fitment and so on. I've bought used items before and I'll never do it again because of how disappointed I was of how the parts looked and were taken care of.

Buy new or have someone reputable buil u a custom turbo kit

On a budget I'd go TRD all day long. The only way I'd go turbo is a fabbed front mount setup.

if you're going to turbo then don't half ass it with a STS mid mount, get the custom fabbed front mount but as you said you are working with a budget so all day i would say get the TRD blower.

So....do your self a favor, read Torspd build thread. That should be your first step in what to and not to do in terms of a Turbo build.

You can make serious power with a proper turbo build. Remember, you will need a custom tune and tuning device to run a Turbo set up safely. The x1/uconn can be calibrated to run a Turbo, but it has the turbo get has to be built a certain way, as to not cause strange readings on the AFR sensors, as the x-1 and ucon use them for tuning. Torspd can elaborate more on that.

Now, TRD, things a bit simpler, yet more complicated at the same time....out the door, you can Just get a TRD s/c with the reflash and make some decent power. Your looking at about 300whp with fuel pump, Exhaust and intake. Expect to pick up 20 or so rwhp with a pulley. Now, proper tunning and more boost. You can easily push it over 350whp. DeathShadow made over 380 with a stock y-pipe and modified tune. Nitrous with a proper tune, your easily knocking out URD power levels and with a torque curve that will yield no traction in the first 3 gears......but the stock motor can only take so much.

with all those extras added in you might as well get the urd blower right off the bat! you can spend thousands on the trd blower and never be satisfied with the gains
