Thanks for the quick responses. I like the projectors, but don't like the angle eyes. Also looking for a bluish color.

You don't have to get the angel eyes, it's an option either that you don't have to have them wired up to work and if you want blueish, go with 6k, 5k is white please don't go any higher than 6k

This is 6k heads and 3k fogs

Once you go HIDS you never go back, one of the best mods on any vehicle hands down!

I did the exact same thing as rennurx. I felt like an asshole with HID blinding everyone with HIDs in the stock headlights without projectors. I love my HID fog lights though. If you are going to do HIDs I recommend doing a retro fit or just the fog lights.

You don't have to connect the angel eyes if you don't want to

I never had a problem with my hid's in my factory housings in my truck. If you stick with 35 watts and not go all ricer blue its not bad at all. Now my jeep on the other hand, I had to take the hids back out of it because every single person I passed flashed me. Retrofits are really nice but a lot of people (including me) don't have it in their budget to spend 500 dollars on them. A good quality high/low set does alright in the factory housings imo.

I could never get mine aimed right. I had 4300 35watt ones. Also I live out in the country where it is super noticeable if someones lights are too bright.

I say 1) if u want better lighting with HIDs, DO IT RIGHT!!! either run HIDs in fogs or if u want HIDs in headlights, GET PROJECTORS! I agree, some people dont have it in their budget, but if thats the case run stocks, and save up! Its up to you, not all projectors are the same! Do research! But hell what do I know???

I had 35W 5000K's from DDM Tuning, They were a crystal white with a light blue tint... Nice color, But after aiming them to where I can still see and try not blind everyone. The light visibility was the same as halogens and I'd still get flashed every so often at the slightest incline.

1 side began to discolor, So I changed the bulbs then a few weeks later a ballast began to flicker on warm up... So before it got worse I put the halogens back in. I don't get flashed at all again and I don't piss myself when a police car follows me (wondering if i'm going to get pulled over for illegal HIDs) or I get stuck in front of one... I do miss people moving out of my way on the hgihway though.

As mentioned, For best light output get a projector retrofit.

This will always be one of those subjects that get debated and I for one can agree with both sides, some people buy these hid kits for halogen housings and don't know how to adjust them and there are a few people that I wish never bought them. I have some trouble seeing at night I need the extra visibility that Hids give but right now I am on a budget. I have had hids in halogen housings on the last three vehicles and I have aligned them so that I can still see but not blind someone and in the last 7 years I have had 3 or three people flash me thinking they were my brights. I believe they are becoming more acceptable and I for one am a safer driver with them than without. Believe or not I get flashed at least once a month in my wife's murano and she has OEM projectors with halogen bulbs?

I never had the desire to save up for a projector retrofit. I've had hids in my headlights and foglights for 3 and a half years now, and I can honestly tell you I've not been flashed once. I never had to adjust them either. The headlights in the newer tacomas do a pretty damn good job at controlling light output. The people you see driving around blinding people usually have junk headlight housings. Old Hondas, sealed beam conversions etc. And as far as putting them only in the foglights, the foglights will scatter light everywhere where the headlights actually have a beam pattern to them. So that seems like a worse idea to me.

X Less, weren't the ones you had only the low beam set? I might be wrong but I think we talked about it before and I thought you said that yours were only lows. Usually the low only kits don't have the little metal shield around them that directs the light output and it scatters a little more.

Here's a shot of the cutoff of mine with my hids. Pretty much identical to stock.

A retrofit will always be a better option, but if you can't bring yourself to spend up to 1k for a set of headlights like me, a good quality 35 watt high/low set will do ok in the stock housings. People around here will flash you over nothing. The fact that I've never been flashed in my truck tells me something.

Ddmtuning kits are great I've used them in all my tacoma's and they are reasonable price. Those projectors look cheap with the angel eyes just my .02
