Those numbers don't look bad at all. You're making 70+ horsepower at the wheels over stock. I'm sure your truck's overall weight does play a pretty big part in the 1/8th miles you've been showing, you're about 900 pounds over what the Xrunner weighs. If you believe every 100 pounds equals a tenth in the quarter mile, then there's almost a second right there and I'm sure it's effecting your 1/8th times. I'd be interested in what your quarter time is, I think you only posted 1/8th mile times? I'd think in the longer race against time, you'd see a little better result.

Yeah only 1/8th. Only one 1/4 mile track within a reasonable driving distance but it is usually very packed.

So, what was the actual AFR? Smelling the exhaust is one thing, have real numbers is another. What was the AFR from the dyno run?

Looks like it is time for you to install at least a pulley, like this guy has.

http://www.xr-underground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57083

That should get you to around 300. I completely understand why you've been underimpressed now.

I have a URD 2.8 pulley sitting in the garage. I may do the install this weekend but I'm not sure if I will get a chance. I don't believe I'll hit 300 whp because I feel that the TRD exhaust is restrictive. I want the full Spec U exhaust but I may not have this truck for much longer. Here's the dyno video:

https://youtu.be/lS4DaF_QcGw

It was an older dyno that did not monitor boost pressure or AFR and the PC running it still had a hard disc drive in it. Lol! I didn't even know you could measure power against MPH. The whole time before I was wondering what RPM the operator was going to start from since the auto would most certainly kick down. Also TRAC and the AC was left on. At least the AC compressor clutch disengages at full throttle.

I know this has already been said in another similar way but...
adding 10 lbs is like losing approx 1 hp (So same goes for removing weight). You added almost 200 lbs and the supercharger only adds 30ish hp, so end result you added around 10 hp basically... not much difference...

I have a double cab, I remember the first and last time I had 5 people in it (including myself) and I was astonished at how slow it became.

I didn't see any mention if your running the catalysts still or not, the TRD catback is not nearly as restrictive as the FOUR factory catalysts (which will also melt down @ some point if you have a heavy foot) but beware if you delete the catalysts and run open pipes to the TRD muffler it will have a very noticeable rasp like a honda @ partial throttle openings.

Also, what everyone is saying about the pulleys - very true, noticeable gains here.

Regearing will net some very noticeable gains...

Weight reduction will reduce traction & if you can keep enough traction with the reduced weight your trap times will definitely be lower.

With the TRD blower, Headers, y-pipe, trd catback, airaid intake, 2.85 URD pulley on 33" tires (2wd truck) with a lot of other weight (definitely over 5k lbs.) I ran a 9.6 second 1/8th mile so your not that far off... (I also launch my truck with the rear locker locked and can't really spin the tires on launch with 4.56 gears, stock is 3.73), So again your not that far off...

Me: Hi everybody!
You: Hi Dr. Whip!

My truck is still being a Whippersnapper. Let's revisit my issues (with the truck not personal) and bring everyone up to speed...

Revisit: Truck was slower at the track with boost than it was with just intake and exhaust. It was the first day of the flash though and I don't agree the added weight was enough to make me slower than stock. Over time it felt to pick up more power. No AFR or fuel pressure gauge to look at anything.

Rough idle at fill up from 1/4 tank of fuel and pending rich codes on both banks. No AFR or fuel pressure gauges.

Noticed some soot one day at a full throttle pass. Still no AFR or fuel pressure gauges.

Current:

I have since installed a URD 2.85" pulley and I can say I'm actually, maybe, a little satisfied with the blower now. It's definitely helped int he power department and my times at the track reflect it. I've noticed the rough idle at fillup happens around winter time. I still get pending rich bank codes but not always. P2196 and P2198 are usually what pop up but never turn into an actual trouble code. I have noticed that my truck will vape at the 1 to 2 shift but I have not verified the color of the smoke. I'm running a good 8psi with the pulley so I don't think I have a boost leak.

0 to 60:

More soot:

Had more soot today and yes the Craperado tried to pass on the freeway but couldn't. Mods are mostly the same (TRD exhaust) but I have changed to an AFE SI intake and the added 2.85" pulley. I know what you are going to say and I still haven't installed and AFR or my fuel pressure gauge. Call it lazy or lack of motivation. I still get bad street mileage even when I drive easy. 13 to 14 is about the norm.

What have I tried? Multiple MAF cleanings, air leak checks, intake swap, different brands of fuel, bypass valve operation check and I have disconnected the EVAP hose before filling the tank. Nothing came out of the EVAP hose when I started the engine.

I'm thinking my fuel pressure regulator may be dead and may have been dead this whole time. Any ideas?

Funny note...I went TRD because I didn't want issues. Fuck me, right?

Edit: My oil and coolant levels are fine.

Yeah man you REALLY need to get some kind of AFR monitoring in there lol. Without it you're pretty much blind as to what the engine is doing.

Not too blind when you see puffs of smoke coming out of the tailpipe and an exhaust smell that is unbearable to smell at cold startup. Also the dyno operator commented that my exhaust smelled rich. Yeah his nose isn't an AFR gauge but years of experience would put him in the know.

This is the issue with the TRD reflash. It seems to act differently on every truck. Some trucks are lean, some are rich, and some are just right. Looks like yours runs pretty rich. Think about ucon or just a MAF CAL (if you're not going smaller than 2.825 pulley). Sounds like you need to tune out that rich condition. But like everyone says you need an AFR gauge. I recommend the Innovate MTX-L. It's super easy to install. That all being said, I don't think this issue is going away without custom tuning. The gauge will just confirm your suspicions and allow you to continue to monitor things.

I'm not saying that it isn't running rich, it obviously is. Im saying you need to be able to put a numerical value on it. Just smelling the exhaust isn't accurate enough when it comes to tuning.

If on a budget the mafcal with tune should fix it. I think urd released a plug n play version so no splicing will be needed. But like others said afr gauge is a must.

So in technical terms, how rich is soot? With out that gauge, you will never know.
