What should my next power mod be?

Hey guys, i rarely start threads but i figured i might get good results from this.

I recently suffered a slight loss to a cummins ram on the highway and it got me back into the holiday cheer to buy more power for myself. Sounds logical and selfless right? Im looking for fellow opinions of where you think i should go next, or what you would consider doing with my current setup. I have a 2013 double cab, 5AT, TRD supercharger, afe intake, URD catback, and URD 2.825 supergrip Pulley. I have done the Oem fpr mod as well as the 255lph fuel pump.

Currently i have a URD maf calibrator but i have not installed it. Debating on holding out for the Ucon. My thought is a set of URD equal length headers should be whats next. Given that im a 2013 I know my options are somewhat limited.

UCON
URD TCAI
URD Spec-U headers
URD Spec-U exhaust

That will be the best you can do with out putting boost into it.

Id like to wait till other things are modded equivalently before i add more boost. I already see 9psi with my current setup. At sea level and low temps (45-55f).

From what i have been gathering with your headers, is that with the plug in O2 simulator its a bolt on deal with little to no fuss, correct? I have emissions testing , but its only done through the obd2, no sniff test.

Also id love a UCON, but youre still working on that so ill be patient.

Honestly, this may require more effort than you want to put into it, but once the ucon is available for the 09 and up, I'd swap the Trd for a urd supercharger. You'll make much more power and pretty much will be able to upgrade that thing to whatever power level you want. With the Trd superchargers being discontinued you can probably get a good amount for yours and may not have to come out of pocket at all for a urd.

As for right now, what gadget said is pretty much all that you have left to do. You start adding any more boost and the heat level will start to take away from any power increase you might have gotten.

Upgrade your valvebody while you're at it. Huge difference in shifting. You can go with IPT or level ten. Quite a few people have gone with IPT. I have the level ten valvebody in mines. Either works great. Seems that IPT has the customer service under their belt so id recommend them over the other.

Yeah i see what you are saying, but im not that dedicated to that much effort. Im willing to do moderate stuff but its also my only vehicle so i can only have it down for a few days at a time. Im ok with sticking with the trd unit. I know i wont get the same levels as the urd guys, but its the path i have already started down. Im just looking around at what others would so if they had what i have, what the next atep would be. Some would go full hog and start over, but i need to build a house.....and that takes more money.

I have been heavily considering it. I heard rumor that one of them does a diy kit so you dont have to send the assembly out. Is this true? My plan is to do one more power adder and then the valve body after. Doing it all as funds become available. Ive had the truck for three years and i usually do one or two things a year to it.

Another good header choice if you have emissions is AFE Twisted Steel headers. I have had them on my truck for few months now with no issues. Short tube headers with built in high flow cats. They are pricy, but they are better than the short Doug Thorley headers, with cutting your stock cats off and welding on to new ones. Talk to Gadget and see if he can get you the AFE headers.

Level Ten Carries a DIY kit and is much friendlier on the wallet.

I say do this first since you're already boosted. It'll save the life of your transmission.

Thanks for the tip, i may look into those depending on how much suffering i may have to go through with the emissions. I know i can get away with removing the front cats if i have the 02 sim, but if i get the y pipe later on i wont pass the visual inspection. Then again the y pipe is a relativly easy swap back and forth.

Do you happen to have a link to any dyno information for these babies?

Keep the good ideas coming, i have about 2-3 weeks before i make a firm decision. I probably should have set up a poll for this thread, but ive never done it.

This is exactly what i was looking for! And since the price is that reasonable im really thinking about doing it at the same time as the next mod.

So it seems like the best gains i can get are with a set of headers (and the level ten upgrade of course) im really horney over the fact Gadget has the dyno chart for just the URD equal lengths. If anyone else has data to go with their suggestion i would love to see it.

Yeah I figured it would be a stretch but I just wanted to mention it anyway.

Not a "power mod," but I don't see a short-shift kit on your list...

You can run catless and pass visual...u just need an exhaust shop to make you a fake bolt on cat or two, put them on for visual and pass.... I have a friend in the system, and he says people do it all the time.

Yes I am curious the difference I could see. It would make me feel better putting in bigger injectors and having them controlled properly to compensate for the weather around here.

Haha if I had a 6 speed I would have already done that, but I'm an auto. I'm one of them moochers that flowed over from Tacoma world over to here. The speed knowledge here seems to be more plentiful.

Yeah that's what the local shop told me to do if I wanted to eek by. But for now I'll still have the rear cats. I just pulled the trigger on the spec u headers about 10 min ago. I'm already feeling guilty. I hope I can actually notice the power difference. According tothe Dyno evidence it should be obvious and feelable. I hhope so.
