I'm not saying but an ls7_ that's what all the rich NASCAR drivers have in their daily cars. As far as which LS motor is best, I wouldn't know ... I know nothing of GM...

I have a LS3 & LS7.

A stock LS3 is 415 ~ 430 HP depending on what it comes out of. 480 HP if you buy a crate motor.

Many Camaros & Vettes have the LS3. These are an easy find in junkyards.

I'll bet it's a lot of work putting an ls in an X. Cutting, welding, rewiring. Lot of weekends with out the truck. Is everything going to work? Gauges? AC? Then your trade in value is shot. I like the buy an SC & be happy with it, option 1.

This is a true statement.

Doing an LS swap marries you to the truck and it is going to be an effort.

The S/C can be done in a day.

If you supercharge your truck and plan to race it your gonna blow motors all day long. Ls swap is a lot of work. I know from experience. But at the end it's all about reliability for me. I want to run down the track and push it without worrying if I'm gonna make it back home. The 1gre is a max 400hp engine. If your satisfied with that then good stick with it and just buy a supercharger. If not a motor swap is a must. The problem is so many people aren't willing to commit when it gets hard or expensive they sell out.

But what about an N/A 1GR

With the usual bolt ons, i.e. headers, cat back, CAI, etc it will probably last forever.

Unless you like to get sideways (i.e. drifting or doing donuts) the X-Runner guys have a crappy oil pan design, then may need a spacer or a custom oil pan.

I don't drive sideways. And that's good to hear. I drive like I stole it... But sideways is bad lol

Just remembered. I saw about 3 motors, a 350, a 355 and a 454. Anyone swap those? A 350 is pretty cheap to build if you guys want a swap...

Those old iron block/head motors are good for boat anchors and hot rods. Too heavy for my blood.

Just a thought and my first comment ever but has anyone thought of doing a 2uz-Fe swap with the V160 6 speed Trans ttc makes the adapter plate for it and a bolt on twin turbo set-up. I know it's not cheap I've seen the cost. Just wondering if anyone else has thought about it.

2uz is heavy and has very limited aftermarket support. Tuning and wiring will be a challenge. Stock internals are junk and won't last even at VERY LOW power level. It also makes terrible power just in general.

A 300k mile 4.8 LS iron block will make more power stock, handle more power, an has huge aftermarket support....and can be bought for 250 bucks. Lol
