Yeah I drove it home right after I did the install. Probably have 100 miles on it at this point. It almost feels as if it engages easier and smoother than the stock clutch. Biggest difference is the new shift lever. I guess I was used to how sloppy it got over time.

Once that clutch breaks in after about 1k miles it's way different than stock. At least that's how my stage 3+ URD clutch is with a lightweight steel flywheel. Started out being much easier than stock and slowly broke it in and the more I drove it the more aggressive it became (I was very glad).

I've been really busy the past couple months with motorcycle race season starting back in Feb. Still still have one more engine to rebuild so modding the truck has been a little low on my list of things to get done.

I pretty much have everything I need now for install minus getting with Gadget for a calibration file for the UCON. Hopefully here in the next month or two I'll do the install over a weekend.

I have done a couple mods recently though. Installed a new steering wheel

I also decided to go a different route with my rear suspension. I know most guys use the QA1's for rear shocks but I've always been a fan of Koni and have used them on quite a few BMW's in the past. One of my good friends sells BMW parts for a living and does suspension builds for his customers. Its fairly common practice that the Koni 1186sport shock is used on BMW e36 and e46 suspension builds but if you run the part number it is spec'd for mid 2000's Ford mustang GTs. My friend had some extra ones laying around and we compared all the measurements to the stock X-runner shock. If i remember correctly overall length was maybe one inch different and the only issue was that the sleeve in the rubber bushing on the Koni was too long to fit the X-runner but the width of the bushing was dead on. So I decided to try it. I had to grind the sleeve flush with the bushing and they fit perfectly. Only other problem is that the supplied Koni adjustment knob won't fit on top of the shock on the drivers side due to clearance with the bed of the truck. I improvised and made my own adjustment tool out of some aluminum plate that I had laying around at work. What I made is very similar to this but was free and took about 15min to make.

They've only been on the truck for two days. I had them set to full soft yesterday and they seemed quite a bit softer than stock with a very comfortable ride. Today I set them 180 degrees from full soft and they feel much firmer but still have a good ride. Pretty happy with them so far!

I want that steering wheel.where and how let's hear it.

I found it randomly searching on eBay at the beginning of march. A guy in Connecticut had it on his truck and removed it when he traded the truck in. I inquired about it and supposedly it is an OE Toyota Hilux steering wheel that had been modified and rewrapped. I didn't ask where he got it from but its looks almost identical to this one on eBay.

I'm unsure if thats the one I have but it appears to be damn close. It accepts the factory airbag and steering wheel controls/trim perfectly. The splines match the steering column as well. The only issue i ran into (which the seller neglected to mention) was that the way the steering wheel matches up to the slip ring was different. I ended up rotating the slip ring slightly to the right and it all went on and I've had zero issues. Its quite a bit thicker than stock and looks/feels pretty damn good! I may do some research and see if I can find a different slip right that will match up with it perfectly. I had never seen like it before and figured it would be a good addition to my build. Here is a close up pic of the leather and you can also see the red stitching.

I like that leather and style. Curious how long the leather will last? As in what is your impression of the quality?

The quality seems pretty damn good. The leather is not near as nice as some of the stuff I see at work but those are also pricy BMW's.

Any further updates?

I have a massive pile of parts ready to install that is occupying a large portion of my dining room. Pretty sure the wife isn't too happy about it. I should hopefully have my last R6 engine rebuilt this week. Only thing left after that is finish my engine build on the dirt bike and then I can focus on the truck. Hopefully will be installing everything later this month or early May. Still need a calibration file for the UCON but Gadget and I have been in contact this week so that should be taken care of soon.

Sorry been super busy especially with all the flood cars we got in at work. Plus in the evenings I was rebuilding one of my R6 engines before the 3rd CMRA race round. A few shots of what I've been up to....

I'm sure you guys will be especially interested in the last two pics. After work yesterday I mounted the intercooler. I'll be trimming the core support for piping clearance sometime today and then test fitting the rest of the cold side piping. I'm planning on full install this coming weekend. Things kind of worked out perfectly because my wife is headed out of town for work for the next two weeks. Between my supermoto and her X3 I'll have alternate transportation if needed. Also plenty of time to get stuff done. The plan is to take all parts to work on thursday and then on friday I'll take my Supermoto in the bed of the truck. Start install after work friday night. I'll leave the truck on the lift and use the bike to get home and then back on saturday morning. Hopefully finish on saturday. I'll have to baby the truck home and try to keep it out of boost because I'm not going to have proper calibration in the UCON. I'll have a session set up with Scott from Itronix on sunday to get the correct calibration files. To say the least I'm pretty excited! :blurock:

Thats awesome man. Keep up the good work. I wish I new as much as you guys to strip shit down like that and customize how you please. I have some intermediate skills, but definitely not like that. Hopefully I will learn more when I start my drift missile project.

Well after a long day at work I was finally able to get the truck into the shop and start on it at about 6pm. I worked on it for about 2.5hrs before I had to head home to let my dogs out. I made some good progress. Exhaust is all out except for the long tubes, majority of the cold side piping is in, did an oil change and installed the greddy oil sandwich adaptor, spark plugs replaced and a few other small things. Headed back to work early in the morning on my supermoto to finish the install. Here is a teaser pic....
