So I noticed that my truck was shaking/shuddering a lot lately when I was starting off in first or in reverse. It really was bothering me and I didn't think it was normal for the break in of the new Twin Disk. I pulled the trans out the other day and this is what I found....

The throwout bearing quill snapped right off and was slopping all over the place. I know that the URD Hydro Bearing Kit is supposed to fix this issue, but it's back ordered for who knows how long. Does anybody know how to fix this without trying to find another bell housing?

That’s greasy. On a 2014 to boot. Fuck man. I’m going t56 once I get shipping and all the other bullshit figured out. I’d offer you my bellhousing. But I’m willing to bet mines totally fucked if it isn’t snapped off also lol

Oh boy things to look forward too, better start saving for t56 now lol. I know its cast but maybe welding it might get you by..... or some how machine a sleeve and then machine the bell housing for a press fit lots of work to do that though.....

Yeah I'm not sure what caused it. Regardless I managed to find a used 4x4 transmission up in Toronto for a good price and I'm going to use that bell housing. Way cheaper than trying to weld/machine in a new one.

I think that once I get the spare trans on my bench Jesiah and I might look into making our own hydraulic throwout bearing replacement. That way I wouldn't have to worry about it ever again and wouldn't have to wait for the URD one to become available.

Has anybody ever taken out the hex plug in the bell housing? The service manual says it's a 24mm hex socket but it looks like it might be 27mm.

I'm having trouble taking the bell housing off and by the looks of the SM I need to take the plug out to get to two snap rings on the counter shaft. Has anybody here taken the bell housing off our transmissions?

If anybody does try this, it is 100% 27mm and not 24mm as the SM says. Unless I read the SM totally wrong.
