Looking over this original post, where do you need to grind?

Just picked up a set of tundra calipers locally for 80 dollars. Gonna clean and paint but want to grind parts down so I can start the primer and painting process.

Ordered the SS brake lines and brake pads. Sourcing ISF rotors, either RA or Ebay if i cant find local.

The suspense for the availability of these brackets are making me order parts haha

I installed the tundra calipers and ISF rotors on my 2012 XRunner and needed to use 5mm spacers as the support rib that runs the length of the front of the caliper makes contact with my stock and aftermarket wheels. (Aftermarket are 20x9 +35 front and 20x10.5 +40mm rear Varrstoen L151) I am going to have to shave 1-2mm off the rib at a 45 degree angle to allow minimal clearance. I cannot stick with using the 5mm spacer on the aftermarket wheels unless I want to get longer studs or use the additional length lugs from Gorillia. (Prob not the best idea)

I was told it is just a support rib and not the piston fluid channel which I originally thought it was. If someone else that has experience can clarify further that would be great.

Got Tundra calipers locally from someone that did a BBK on his Tundra.

That is scary when you think about it. The Tundra calipers are so massive on their own, a BBK kit replacing these behemoths must be something to behold.

I just finished my upgrade using 2014 Tundra calipers on my 2007 XR. Im using stock XR wheels and had perfect clearance. Looking into the Sequoia BMC to increase pedal response.

I was sent Powerstop remans with the kit. Do your calipers have the single reinforcement rib going across the wheelside pistons? Maybe the newer calipers are different? How much clearance do you have? I doubt there would be any differences between the 2012 and 2014.

How’s the pedal feel compared to stock Xrunner?

The pedal feels lighter but you can get accustomed to it. Im looking into the sequoia BMC option later down the road.

Thanks,

The only thing I can think of is that the hats on the rotors must be thinner as I was sent some EBay rotors. (I am now heavily suspect of the quality of said rotors)I will probably just grind a bit off the support rib and be done with it. And I agree, pedal is definitely lighter but the difference in braking is night and day. The stock single piston X front brakes belong on a car half a ton lighter.

Yeah, i was going to go with ebay rotors initially but dont want to have an issue later down the line so i purchased my rotors from autoanything.

2014 Tundra Front Calipers $80
Stoptech SS lines $60
Centric Brake Pads $21
ISF Front Rotors $125
Ramrod Conversion mount $200

Total setup $486 + brake fluid and paint (extra 30 bucks)
