    GearHead899 build thread

Can you snap a picture to see what you did under the hood? Curious how you routed the air to your engine intake?

Recommend checking the pins that hold the plastic bed rail caps in place.

Bed liner? They are located in the bed, just under the bed rail caps.

Recommend checking the pins that hold the plastic bed rail caps in place.

Talking about the plastic pins that are inserted through the inside of the bed on both ends. I found two of the push pins laying in my bed, so I picked up four replacements at my local Toyota dealership. Part #90467-07188. When I went to install them, I found the other two pins were loose and...

Finally got around to using the Cerakote headlight restoration kit.

I'm happy with the results: My advice: don't wait until your headlights are this bad before using the kit...lol I used the old "WD-40" trick last year for my state inspection, but finally decided to do it correctly this year.

    brakes

Gadget, I'm finally in the market for a BBK kit, and your StopTech BBK kit is at the top of my shopping list. One question: it comes with the two SS brake lines for the front, but do you also sell the rear brake line? Would like to knock out all three at the same time. Tried sending a...

Octane as it pertains to engine performance

Engine Masters had a naturally aspirated LS-3 on a Dyno at Westech, and decided to test 87 and 91 pump gas from a gas station down the street from them, as well as Sonoco race gas in 110 and 116 octane levels. There was no noticeable difference in power between any of the fuels. E85 did make a...

Just bled my brakes & clutch, and clutch engagement is just as you push in the pedal

Just finished bleeding the clutch, along with manipulating the clutch pedal four or five times before closing the bleed screw. That seems to work. My clutch engagement point is back to normal, meaning it moved a couple inches. Hopefully I'll remember to put both (large and small) bottles...

Just bled my brakes & clutch, and clutch engagement is just as you push in the pedal

Thanks! I'm going to try one more attempt to bleed the system, since clutch engagement was higher before. I'll hook up the Motive bottle again, crack the bleeder screw, then try pressing down on the clutch four or five times to see if that will blow any remaining air out of the system.

Just bled my brakes & clutch, and clutch engagement is just as you push in the pedal

I used my Motive Power Bleeder to flush the brake/clutch on the X Wednesday, but I forgot I needed an extra bottle to do the clutch. When I was flushing the fluid, all four corners went smoothly, but I was just about finished with the clutch when I saw bubbles coming through the "catch" bottle...

Anyone use the Cerakote Ceramic Headlight Restoration Kit?

Waiting for a warm enough day to do it. Don't know what's required, but I prefer not standing outside in 30 or 40 degree weather...lol Hopefully we'll get a nice clear day in the 50s soon. Clock is running out...my inspection is due in March, so I need to do it before the inspection.

    Anyone still around?

Custom work is required for a 4-link too. That also needs research on where to place the bars for the best handling. I've seen Ian do 4-link setups for his off road vehicles, and there's definitely a lot that goes into the design.

    Anyone still around?

I find myself spending a lot of time on the Tacoma World website. It's pretty active, unfortunately most of the people own 4X4s over there. X-Runners are practically unknown on that website. Saw one post where someone asked why anyone would "lower" their Tacoma...lol But they do have a lot...

Supposed to be good for the life of the headlights. Headlight - CerakoteCeramics Just ordered a kit, and will post the initial results next week when we have temps in the 50s again. Fingers Crossed!
