^^^ That is what is completely unfortunate about threads like this and what, quite frankly, pisses me off when people make public threads like this one. Members take a private matter and make it public - when 99.9% of the forum has no idea any of this has gone on (and probably don't care either).

(deleted responses)

Let me lay this out...

High Velocity Motorsports will no longer be a vendor on XRU. This is not open for a vote. The vendor space that was leased/paid for by HVM was used in a way that is unacceptable here on XRU.

Since the actions were taken specifically by Deathshadow, he was put on probation. This had nothing to do with what was said to another vendor. This all happened because HVM posted in another vendor's forum, that vendor deleted the posts (which they have authorization to do b/c they PAY FOR THAT SPACE). HVM took screenshots of the posts before they were deleted and then reposted the screenshots in the HVM forum after the fact where the other vendor would not be able to delete the post/screenshot.

THIS IS NOT OKAY. If I delete a post of a user and they repost it in a screenshot, I would take the same action toward them. By doing this, you are overthrowing our authority on the website and that will never be okay or allowed here.

I hope this clears up some unanswered questions.

And thanks for making me deal with this crap on my birthday. Stop being a bunch a gossiping women and get back to modding your trucks like real men. I'm gonna go eat some cake.

I'm not here to get in a pissing contest with anyone. You all know me and I'm pretty laid back, I just look for humor in everything. That being said, I disagree with your post. I'm not an admin or a moderator nor do I have any fancy titles that make me cool (except my nipples), but I am a sensible adult and I couldn't disagree more.

You're right, he shouldn't of reposted the screenshot. Gadget deleted the post for his own reason and that's HIS subforum to do with as he pleases. But what gives Gadget the right to do whatever he pleases on his subforum, deleting posts to make himself look innocent and DS look bad, but Doug can't do what he wants on his subforum? He was only defending himself, and rightfully so in my opinion. What SHOULD HAVE happened (in my humble opinion) is all threads in question locked, closed, PM's sent to both vendors and issue resolved. Instead it appeared (and I do hate to use this word) favoritism was in play. This isn't my website, it's yours. And you guys can do whatever you want with it and tell me to go F myself. But if you really want your members opinion I'm laying it out for you. I saw -everything- that happened, to include the emails and arguments on all sides. Doug got the shaft and the handle.

I love Gadget. He's helped me out many times with my truck (more than Doug, to be honest). He's a super stand up guy and I harbor no ill will towards him. URD is an outstanding company and our trucks and brains would be worse off without them. Still, Doug didn't deserve what happened.. and if he did, then the same punishment should be issued to all parties involved.

That's why I made a public thread. A solid vendor and incredibly helpful member disappeared overnight, and even in a hypothetical situation where it was deserved the members (including the other vendor who lost his status) have a right to know why.

Happy Birthday Klint, accept my facebook request. =P

Take the punishment, do the time and move on.
It would have been the same if the tables were turned...

There's plenty of information in this thread to somewhat clear that up for you.

Bottom line: DS got the shaft, and we want him back. :top:

First we lose DS, then this asshat gets more power? Management decisions around here make me feel like I've enlisted in the Army all over again. :p

Okay folks ...

My penny and a half here ...

Seems to be an awful lot of animosity here about the dealings of XRU staff over this infamous incident between DS / HVM and Gadget / URD. Now, I'll be the first to admit that I didn't see the thread in question, I've only caught wind of it in a couple of threads that have gone viral since then (including this one). But what I do know, and what I am sure most everyone else on XRU knows is of a certain combative disrespect that has gone one for ages between them two. It's about as famous, well known and publicized as a certain oil puddle brewing in the Gulf Coast. I have my own opinions of this ongoing dispute, but I won't go there. So, the end result that has come out of all of this, however unfortunate and disappointing - if you think about it hard enough and push the boundaries of your imagination, wasn't entirely surprising. No, I'm not condoning anyone, anything or any action nor am I taking sides, I'm just saying that it was only a matter of time before something serious happened.

For that matter, it seems that engine performance threads in general seems to take on a highly inflammatory atmosphere. I can think of a couple different folk that have lost their XRU memberships at least partly over caustic behavior over performance-related topics (no, I'm not naming names and I don't want anyone naming any either, I'm just bringing up the point that it seems that performance topics seem to bring the worst out of people - unnecessarily). Now, people will disagree with each other. That's a part of life. However, another part of life is learning how to disagree with others without resorting to the nuclear option and becoming inflammatory, and attempting to belittle and intimidate those that don't happen to agree with you. Civility, it's a wonderful thing. Come on, this is XRU, not Washington D.C.

In terms of comments of XRU staff being overly paternalistic and resorting to heavy-handed tactics, consider this ... this thread is still open. Had XRU staff been as heavy handed as some seem to be alleging, this thread would have been closed, locked-down, deleted, vaporized into binary kingdom-come and any perpetrators branded and / or banished to the realms of binary purgatory. Yes, XRU has rules. Yes, XRU has admins. But, consider the reality of this site and the fact that it is an online forum. Being on the internet, it's also subject to the phenomena of anonymity, of people being online and feeling "shielded" and being more willing to open up and spill venom than had they been in real life. Then consider what it's built despite that, its community. Then compare / contrast it to other forums and, despite its shortcomings, XRU is still an awesome online gathering place for performance enthusiasts ... even if a few of them happen to disagree with each other.

... end rant ... now on with your regularly scheduled programming ...
