So unfortunately I had to make the decision to let go of my X. :frown:

Sorry for the long story but I couldn't say goodbye to the X with just a short thread. My crank bearings went out and damaged the engine block. It was gonna cost me 10K for a new block and labor, money which I didn't have and neither did I want to put on credit. :argh: With my family growing, I had already been on the lookout for a 4runner. I liked the new ones but I knew that realistically I'd get an 08-09 model to go along with the X.

My dealership guy who I've dealt with the whole time I had the X even suggested to not go into debt with the block. He's a hardcore toyota man himself too, has an MR2 and an IS300, even been through 3 engine blocks with his MR2. He suggested that I take the X to Carmax to see what they'd offer. Being that the X was my daily driver, I felt I had my back against the wall and needed to find a solution quick. I was barely able to make it from home to the carmax place. I was suprised that they took the X. They took her for a test drive and immediately noticed the engine knocking. I told them that I just noticed it and was about to get it fixed when I decided to stop by since I was interested in a 08 V8 4runner they had. They said they would have offered me more if I had the truck fixed prior but the repair costs were higher than the best that they could have offered.

So I took their original offer, used the money to pay off what I owed on the X and the rest I kept as a down payment for my search for a new ride. I really was interested in that 4runner they had but it didn't make sense to pay 27K for a 08 model that already had 37,000 miles on it. :stupid:

I decided to go for it and check out the 2010 4runners :top:

Selling the X was such a sad day, it was touching to see how many lives my X affected. All my friends were calling and texting as if I had lost a family member. My fiancee felt so horrible that I had to get rid of something that was a part of me. She swears that one day we'll buy her back later down the road. I said my goodbyes and thought back of all the fond memories (yes I did give her a kiss :rolleyez:).

It was heartbreaking to take this picture...

But onto the silver lining....:top:....2010 4Runner Limited loaded
I kept the plates in memory of Bella , lol the carmax guys even left the "x" from the carmax sticker :rolleyez:

Of course, I'll still be around on the site. I only hope find a 4runner forum as amazing as XRU

that my friend is an awesome new ride!

I am going to be trading in the Titan for probably a 2012 or 2013 4runner when that time comes around.

I wont be getting the Limited because i dont need the 20's or the fancy bumpers and what not but i definately want that nice plush leather!

Congrats on the new ride brotha!

I really didn't care about the wheels but this one was already loaded and marked $3000 less than MSRP :top: They did have a SR5 there with leather but being that would also be the famly car, I opted for the extra options.

As for a part out, I did strip off what I could. I only left the bed cover, S/C, CAI, and URD exhaust on the truck. I won't mention what I have up for grabs yet as to not get anyone's hopes up. I'm gonna try to do everything locally before I post up whats left.

What caused the motor to fail? Did you romp on it cold or run it low on oil?

Neither, I always warmed her up in the mornings with my remote start and oil was good.

I think you made the right decision. Nice new truck. You look like a family guy now in front of that 4runner.

Baker just got a 4runner too but I think his is a 2005.

if you don't mind me asking, how much did Carmax give you for the X?

i am curious to what they gave you for it. Sorry to see it go, but that 4runner is mighty sexy the Limited series. I wanted one for sometime now, just about bought one little while back.

Those new 4Runners are Very nice congrats bro! I think G has a MKIII that hes gonna have for them no?

So onto the spun bearing issue, any ideas how it happened? Obviously we all need to learn all that causes this so it wont happen to us too.

U coming to XFE?

Of course I thought about coming to you but my X barely made to the carmax closest to me. I got it from the Laurel Toyota/Carmax (same place I got the X). it had the platinum package and I got it for 39K and the MSRP was for 42K :top:

I hope he does  lol. I dunno about XFE yet which is why I hadn't posted in that thread yet. I may show up on Saturday with parts for sale :top: I don't know what could have caused it but it has been extremely hot around here lately, my guy at the dealership thinks the problem was that the bearings overheated from less lubrication if more oil went to the pistons for cooling than the bearings.

Luckily since it already has alot of nice features, I won't have to worry much about that. Definitely thinking about doing something about all the chrome trim  I liked the "evo mod", hood scoop, and BHLM the trail version has so those are some future considerations. I'm surpised they switched back to halogens since the earlier models had projectors. HIDs and LEDs are already in mind. and of course waiting on hopes of future URD goodies

....and the modding has already begun...
