So unfortunately I had to make the decision to let go of my X. :frown:
Sorry for the long story but I couldn't say goodbye to the X with just a short thread. My crank bearings went out and damaged the engine block. It was gonna cost me 10K for a new block and labor, money which I didn't have and neither did I want to put on credit. :argh: With my family growing, I had already been on the lookout for a 4runner. I liked the new ones but I knew that realistically I'd get an 08-09 model to go along with the X.
My dealership guy who I've dealt with the whole time I had the X even suggested to not go into debt with the block. He's a hardcore toyota man himself too, has an MR2 and an IS300, even been through 3 engine blocks with his MR2. He suggested that I take the X to Carmax to see what they'd offer. Being that the X was my daily driver, I felt I had my back against the wall and needed to find a solution quick. I was barely able to make it from home to the carmax place. I was suprised that they took the X. They took her for a test drive and immediately noticed the engine knocking. I told them that I just noticed it and was about to get it fixed when I decided to stop by since I was interested in a 08 V8 4runner they had. They said they would have offered me more if I had the truck fixed prior but the repair costs were higher than the best that they could have offered.
So I took their original offer, used the money to pay off what I owed on the X and the rest I kept as a down payment for my search for a new ride. I really was interested in that 4runner they had but it didn't make sense to pay 27K for a 08 model that already had 37,000 miles on it. :stupid:
I decided to go for it and check out the 2010 4runners :top:
Selling the X was such a sad day, it was touching to see how many lives my X affected. All my friends were calling and texting as if I had lost a family member. My fiancee felt so horrible that I had to get rid of something that was a part of me. She swears that one day we'll buy her back later down the road. I said my goodbyes and thought back of all the fond memories (yes I did give her a kiss :rolleyez.
It was heartbreaking to take this picture...
But onto the silver lining....:top:....2010 4Runner Limited loaded
I kept the plates in memory of Bella , lol the carmax guys even left the "x" from the carmax sticker :rolleyez:
Of course, I'll still be around on the site. I only hope find a 4runner forum as amazing as XRU
