Its funny how the middle east affects us ! Isn't it? If its not terrorism its petrol corporations stealing from us . This country has become too sedate in these situations . We'll all just lay back and ignore it and hope it fixes itself or sit around and complain and still do nothing. This used to be a great country of strong people who'd stand up for themselves and people around them ,but not anymore . Now we have become whiny ,lazy and afraid ! We let people walk all over us and look where its gotten us . If we all banned together and fought these corporate thieves we'd all be better off . Thats how its was in the 60's and 70's . If the government fatred in the wrong direction people protested ........Remember when gas goes up so does everything else . Everything is a petrol product nowadays don't forget it ! So don't think there is nothing you can do !

sprouls, i cant say the difference is night and day or weather its just in my head but I feel it is better. when I first bought the truck i put regular (87) as thats what the manual calls for but after running my first tank at 94 the exhaust was black and left ricer marks on my lower flair. I did research and this was normal as it was cleaning out my engine and for that alone I run it and will continue to get bent over at the pump running it.

i thought the manual recommended 91 octane?

If this entire country stopped buying gas from the top 2 manufacturers and demanded lower prices I wonder if that would help?

Super is now over $3.69 a gallon and 87 is over $3.39 a gallon. Good thing I can use E85 cause that's still under $3 a gallon and I can get about 260 miles from a tank and that's only around 35 less miles from a tank.

If every body stayed home one day a week, no buying gas. There would be a surplus of gas in no time. At 1.23 a litre (87)(x 3.78= us gal)it took $80.00 to fill my tank last night.

if only we could isolate ourselves and fix the country problems first before going to other parts of the world and wasting time and money.....but that will never happen even with all these "promises" each new president comes along and tells us what they "will do"...is a bunch of lies and unfortuntly we the people still vote thinking choosing one of the lesser evils will help us maybe people will wake up if we didnt vote and then the government will do something about it but all this whining and complaining doesnt fix nothing :(

All we need to do is buy smaller cars that are more efficient. Personally I'd get some oldschool toyota's as they got good mileage for even back in the day. Yes, they are gutless but they are efficient.

Bigger isn't always better... At least when it comes to mpg!

i thought the manual recommended 91 octane?

I don't believe it does, u will see a bit more HP and tq if u run 91 octane but it's now enough to really feel a difference. Before I went boosted I ran 91 because on hot summer days I could hear the motor knocking under lite accel in a low gear.

Wow wow wow!! So many uninformed people in this thread!

I work for big oil, and let me tell you... they are not out to screw us over or rip us off. They dont sit back and say "hey lets raise the price and **** everyone up" That would be stupid business sense first of all. Not buying gas for whatever period of time will do NOTHING. Demanding lower prices will do NOTHING. Whoever said they have family in the industry and they said blah blah blah about the future of prices is totally wrong! No offense, but no one knows jack about what it will do. If you truelly want to know then ask some of the speculators. they are one of the real causes of the increase.

You guys dont realize that the oil companies have to buy the crude in the first place. Yea, they have to spend more if the price of crude goes up. Remember, we have to IMPORT most of our oil. The oil companies PAY for this oil before they can make it into gas. So therefor they have to charge more for the final product. They are among the richest companies sure, but they have among the lowest profit margins of any. They invest the most money of anyone to develop newer and cleaner technologies for energy than anyone. They make about 23% of the price of a gallon of gasoline. Name some other companies that have that low of a profit margin from the product they sell.... yea, thats what i thought...

You wanna know why they are still struggling to keep up with demand in the U.S.? The enviromentalists havent let us build any new refineries for over 30 years! Thats only one reason. So many new restrictions and standards come out every year by the EPA and the companies have to invest more and more money into it all the time to meet the regulations. That equates to having to charge more money to us for the final product. Just this year(and its only March) about 7 new standards have rolled out that we have to meet. The terminal i work at had to spend millions to comply with this shit. This is the type of stuff you never hear about. You gotta dig for it. Inform yourself.

Im not here to say that anyone here is stupid, but please get yourself informed before you just to conclusions. Yea, i think it sucks. Even as an employee i have to pay just as much as anyone else for their gasoline. But i DO have tons of stock in the company and it is doing good. Energy has always been good and/or has recovered better than anything else during recessions because its something that everyone needs.

We spent almost 100 years building the infrastructure around petroleum in this country. Its here to stay for a long time to come no matter what we do. Another problem we have here is that Politics and energy are not on the same time frame. There is "political time" and there is "energy time". Political time is measured in 2 and 4 year cycles. Energy timeis measured in decades. No ask yourself what the **** is wrong with that picure?

Ugh.... sorry for the book but so many of you are totally naive. Im not saying anyone is stupid.. just UNINFORMED.

Sorry for the book:ahhhhh:

Ill have to look in my manual again, could swore it said 87 in it? Gonna go have a smoke and I'll look then....I'll be back!

Ok I see where the confusion is, right on the back of the manual it says Unleaded gas Octane rating 87( research Octane #91.

Then underneath it says "For improved performance use of Premium uleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91(research octane rating 96) or higher is recommended"

Use of unleaded gas with an octane rating lower or research rating lower then then staed above will cause heavy knocking. If it is severe it will lead to engine damage.

This is all straight from the manual on page 256
