According to the member map there are some XR owners in the STL area. I am spending 5 days in O'Fallon, IL (right now) and east side of STL and haven't seen any XRs and don't recall any Tacos in general for that matter. Do they do well in the winter here? I'm tying with the idea of moving to the area if the job situation forces me to take a job at Scott AFB and would hate to part with my XR... but doesn't make sense to take it with me if I'm going to spend all my winters being pulled out of ditches or stuck on uncleared roads.... how do you guys fare in the winter wth your XR?

I am not in IL, but I am in michigan my XR loves the snow :)

I picked up my truck Dec of last year, and I had the dealership put on my snow tires before I even drove it home!

I bought the 15" steel wheels, and some 215/65/15 bizzaks never had a problem with snow, The most we had on the road at some point last winter was about 6"

I never put sand in the back of my truck, just snow tires...

I used to live in Peoria, IL. I didn't have my X back then, but I did have a '90 Chevy Caprice. The Caprice got a little fun when it snowed, but was overall fine in the winters. Yeah, it does snow some around there, but it's more cold than snowy. All in all, if you get snow tires for use when it does snow, I'd keep the X.

Thanks for the insight. I have a couple of friends/former coworkers who moved to the STL area and describe it worse than it must be.

For people who have never driven in snow its a whole differnt style of driving... just go slow and take your time!

I've tackled winter driving in the mountains of NW MD for several years... which is one reason why I'm in HI ::smile: I do miss the wide open driving though, now that I have an X and want to just jump in and go.

Thanks. I guess if/when I make the move I'm going to have to pick up steelies to mount snow tires on real quick.

I live in La Grange which is just south west of Chicago i have driven my camaro through 3 or 4 winters with heavy snow and made it through them with slight problems of driving while looking at on coming traffic. So i can only assume that the xr will have little to no problems driving in the snow.

There are a few members that dont post alot that are in the STL area, dont remember there names though. You can do a member search and search per area to locate them if they still have their X.

Otherwise im down in Rolla which is 100miles from STL, several members in the KC area and im sure there are some on the eastern IL area
