Adapting is350 brakes to fit our trucks?

I was working on an is350 Saturday, and they've got some pretty serious brakes on them. From what I understand, there are kits that use these rotors for our truck. It looks like about 300 for a set of calipers, and 150 for the rotors. My dads a machinist, and I'm thinking about trying to fab some brackets to make it work. I was wondering if anyone has tried this. I don't want to buy the parts for it to find out I won't have clearance for the calipers or something like that. Also, I was wondering how the brackets for the rotora, and trd brakes were designed, or if they even have brackets. If anybody could post a pic, it would save me a lot of headache figuring out a good design. If this works, I may make some extra brackets and try to sell them. Any info or suggestions would be great.

I'm wanting to do it for the front, and possibly make some extra money selling them. The cost is also an issue. If I sold brackets for it, you could put together the rest of the kit for under 500 bucks. That a huge savings over any bbk I've seen. It could make me money, and save some one else a paycheck or two.

Here are the fronts... http://tundraracing.com/frontbrakekit.htm

Problem with these is that the disc sits farther out than the stock XR disc. The TR kit works with the stock wheels but not all aftermarket ones. The reason TR uses a SSBC caliper is because its a 2(back) piston. There will not be room for outside piston calipers.

That's what I was figuring, but I think I'm going to have to get my hands on one of these calipers to see for sure. I know tundra racing makes those kits with different calipers, but I'm thinking maybe they used those caliperS to be able to sell the kit as a whole, and not have people be able to piece together their own kits.

If I'm not mistaken, when I installed my TR BBK the bracket that holds the calipers on are flat and very simple to have a shop cut out with one of those table plasma cutters.

Okay, I had a 2005 Tacoma 4wd in the shop today. The is350 rotors and the calipers
for the Tacoma WILL fit. There's almost zero clearance though. Wit a 1/8 inch spacer, and a custom bracket, it's doable (I used washers for the test fit). Also the wheel spacers should help slightly wit the understeer of the truck, and isn't even noticable when on the truck. Question is, where do I get the spacers, and what are the cons of a spacer?

Remember a 4wd taco has 16's and the x has 18's that were desinged to clear the bbk... It's would be best to get your hands on an X to do the fitting(assuming your truck is an X lol)

I also have the trd bbk brackets sitting around do you still want a pic or are you good? If so I will try and take one tonight

I'd love to see a picture. And the customer left the Tacoma with us, so I snatched a caliper off and put the pads in and put it on my truck(yes it's an X). It does clear with a bit of spacing. The only thing that I forsee as being an issue is how it will affect the abs. Of course, abs is for non-drivers in my opinion anyway. I'll just have to see after I get the fitting done.

I wasn't clear in the earlier post. I'm going to use the rotors from the is350, and calipers from the Tacoma 4x4.

That sounds great, but are the 4wd caliper mounts the same for the X-runner? If so why haven't I seem any with oem 4 pistons installed?

If this helps any this is the caliper bracket that TundraRacing.com uses for the 05+ Tacoma XRunner for the front BBK 332mm that uses the IS350 rotors.

As u can see it's just a flat piece of steel maybe 1/2" thick. If u get a pattern made up u could stop by a steel dealer that has a table plasma cutter. U would have to clean up where the plasma cutter made it's cuts because it will have ruff edges and the face of it will also be a little ruff. Can't imagine it would cost that much money and I'm not sure if you'd get a discount for having them do more then what is needed for one kit.

Who me? If so I've got a BBK already so I'm good, plus I don't have the cabbage to front the materials or to have them cutout.

Now if u Willie is really serious about this I can take off one of my calipers, trace the bracket with all 4 holes and mail it to u. Let me know cause this Saturday I have a member coming to my house so we can install his TSK45 TO bearing kit and while I have my tools out I can pop a wheel off and trace the bracket for ya

That picture is almost exactly what I was thinking about. Thanks for posting it up for me. And no I'm not done yet, waiting on the calipers I ordered.

4x4 taco and an X don't have the same lug pattern. X=5 lug and 4x4 and prerunners have 6 lug so the rotors wouldn't work..

A pattern would be awesome, just not sure if it'd be the same. But I'll pm you my address if you'll send it to me. It would definitely be appreciated.
