Lol, I'm guessing I did this wrong. All I did was pop out the green thing and put in the chair piece that bombs sent me.

You need to back off on the lock nut, and spin the shaft on the master cyl. Keep going till it doesn't Spin anymore.:top:

If you did this mod with out adjusting the freeplay, your definitely riding the clutch.

Figured. After I did it this morning and rode to work I was like "this really feels like I'm riding the clutch"

Like it says in the picture/diagram, you need to adjust your freeplay after installing it. :top:

Yea, you definitely need to back the piston off some after putting the spacer in. You need some free play. If you don't adjust the piston, you can see that the rod is about half way pushed in. Thats how tight it was on mine before adjustment. I have mine adjusted to when you start to push down on the pedal, the piston moves. Theres maybe 1/8 - 1/4in free play. Thats definitely safe and not riding the clutch.

Yea, I spun mine too. But didn't have any clue how much. Spin in a downward (to the right) correct? Then tighten it back up. I know I have free play because I can depress the clutch just a little bit before it actually engages. Some play, but a lot less than before.

Spinning the piston to the right moves the piston up. Which tightens it up against the clutch pedal. Making for less free play. I spun mine to the left to where there was some free play in it, and then tightened the lock nut. I could tighten it up a little, to where there is no free play at all. But I know you need some play in it. So I'm happy with where its at. If you can rest your foot lightly on the pedal and feel engine vibration through the pedal...its a bit too tight and your probably riding the clutch or close to it. Rather be safe than sorry down the road. But even with a little free play, it is no where near how it was. A lot tighter and easier to drive. Very pleased with this mod.

If you have some free play you should be good to go. Like I said I have about 1/8- 1/4in. Which is perfect for me. Adjusting the piston up and down is kind of a trial and error thing. I adjusted it and tried it 4 times or so til I got it to where I wanted it and wasn't worried about riding the clutch.

Sounds good. I think I am fine. I can def push the clutch in a bit before I feel engagement. Any I dont want to be anywhere close to messing things up. I have had enough problems with my X...lol

Just did this mod today. For some reason, I couldn't get the 14mm side to be on the shortest length.
Meaning that I still had 2mm of thread left for me to shorten but it would not go any further.....
There is no play but it is not pushing in on the rod.
Took the truck up a steep hill full throttle 1st gear 3 times and I don't smell any clutch burning so I think it worked.

At the same time, the clutch feels a little bit heavier than before?!

Either way, this was the cheapest and the best mod I had on this truck.
Home Depot has different branded ones but practically, all the dimensions are the same.

Finally did this mod. Adjusted the piston to the point where it stopped turning. Took it on a test run. I feel like im driving a different car now!

..I also grinded 3rd, trying to shift a bit faster. proof that now my body needs to adjust to the engagement level.

If you don't feel the engine vibration through the clutch when you lightly rest your foot on it then you are good. I felt my engine vibration under load when I first did the mod. I adjusted the piston down to give about 1mm free play.

just did this to my truck, felt a little bit of engine vibration in the pedal so I cut about a mm of plastic of the top of the foot thing. it's good now and theres abit of play in the pedal now. this mod is pretty sick I just hope there is no negative side to this

the feet I bought where a bit different than the ones featured in this thread. gottem from homedepot for 2.75

This is exactly what I'm thinking.

Be careful here.

I have seen a couple of clutches ruined with this mod.

If you do this mod, you have to make sure that all the pressure is being released from the slave cylinder when the clutch pedal is all the way up. What has happened is that this mod prevented all the pressure from coming off the release bearing and it was acting like the clutch pedal was partially pressed down and the pressure plate was not being allowed to have full clamping pressure on the disc causing the clutch to slip and burn up.

The way to test to make sure all the pressure is coming off of the slave cylinder is to cycle the pedal several times and then see if you can press the slave cylinder into its self by just pressing on it. If you cannot press it in by hand, you are not allowing the pressure to come off the clutch release system and preventing full clamping pressure from being applied to the disc.

A poorly adjusted master cylinder can do the same thing.

So, after you think you have everything properly adjusted, do a final check and see if you can push the slave cylinder in by hand.
