Nothing realy special about them...they are more in cost...also been around racing a lot of different types......just doing research on different products of suspension...They have been around over 25 yrs....But the one i needed i got for a cheaper price on what they go for! They are double ajustable also! Heres there web site.....

http://www.afcoracing.com

http://www.speedwaymotors.com sells them cheaper than jegs!

So here are some pics of the test fitting the product!

Before replacement!

Pop helping out. Something he wanted to do, even though i would have done it.

The test fit of the product. The upper part of the passenger lower shock mount need to be massage to fit the new afco's. Its only the passenger side that needed the fix,
because of the that side is at a different degree of angel!

If they aren't very different and an added cost, I guess they would have to be pretty, I do like irlts almost color matched. Like to hear about the ride quality!

Well now.........that was the brand I was going to use for my front coilovers, before I finally decided on my Ohlins. There are quite a few things I like about AFCO's over QA1's.

I have also found out how to make these coilovers bolt up to the front of the XR. But that is still a secret, for the most part. :D

Well finaly finish getting everything together. But as installing them took a little bit of work. because the body of the shock is bigger, only the passenger side needs the work on, like cutting the top tabs and grinding behind the shock to clear for room for it to not rub and line up with the lower bolt hole! On the drivers side the Top adjusting knob is tight because of the bed is right above it. So to tighten it u can find a small bolt with the same lenght and thread pitch will work, if not use a short allen tool to fit the clearence. THE RIDE IS GOOD, DEPENDS ON HOW YOU MAKE YOUR REBOUND AND COMPRESSION SETTINGS AT. 1ST TRY IS AT 6 REBOUND AND COMPRESSION 12, HAVEN'T BOTTOM OUT YET...BUT THAT IS WITHOUT ANYLOAD IN THE BACK!

Double adjustable peeks my interest. Looking forward to your opinion on these, I will offer to trade you my QA1s for a week and we can compair notes.

FOR SURE ANY ONE WOULD LIKE....BUT I THINK QA1 WILL WORK JUST AS FINE FOR THE DOULBE ADJUSTABLE! THE THING ABOUT THESE YOU CAN USE SPRINGS ON THEM TO HELP WITH HIGHT AND WIEGHT ISSUES...BUT BECAUSE WE HAVE LEAF SPRINGS, IT'S A LITTLE TIGHT. NOT REALY WORRIED ABOUT THE TIRE, IT WILL CLEAR...BUT THE PROBLEM IS GOING TO BE THE PASSENGER SIDE, IT SIT'S IN TO CLOSE TO THE FRAME, SOME REASON TOYOTA SCREWED UP IN THIS SET UP FOR THE BRACKET ON THAT SIDE...SO FOR THE FIX IS IN REMOVING THAT BRACKET AND WIDENING IT, TO GET CLEARANCE....OR DO A 4 LINK OR SOMETHING SIMILAR TO IT! SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GO THREW ALL THAT...STICK WITH THE CHEAPER VERSION OF SHOCKS! BUT i HAVE PLANS OF DOING A LINK SYSTEM LATER.
IMAG1034a.jpg

YOU CAN SEE THE MARKS AT THE BOTTOM WHAT I HAD TO REMOVE...BUT RIGHT BEHIND IT MUST BE GRINDED DOWN, TO CLEAR THE SHOCK, SO NO DAMAGE OR VIBRATION HAPPENS. IF YOU COMPARE YOUR X'S UPPER SHOCK MOUNT WITH EACH OTHER, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN ABOUT THAT BRACKET IS TO CLOSE TO THE FRAME :motz:

Are they gas charged shocks?

YES G, THEY ARE. THE ONES I GOT ARE THE......ELIMINATOR TWIN TUBE STOCK MOUNT DOUBLE ADJ. THEY WHERE DISCOUNTED. WWW.SPEEDWAYMOTORS.COM IS THE ONLY PLACE I HAVE SEEN SELLING THEM CHEAPER THAN THE OTHER SHOPS. SORRY G MAN...I LOOK MORE IN THE BOOK FROM AFCO...BUT THE PAGE THAT MY SHOCKS ARE ON, SAY GAS..BUT I GO IN THE FRONT OF THE CATALOG AND IF IT HAS A LITTLE VALVE IT IS GAS...MINE NOT HAVE THAT....SO THAT CATALOG IS MISSED UP!

Wow those will go well with a SWB XR.....

ACTUALY THEY DO LOOK GOOD WITH IT ALL SET UP WITH THE WHEELS ON THEM.

THATS GOOD YOU THOUGHT OF IT.. THE OHLINS LOOK PRETTY TIGHT OF A SHOCK! THATS GOOD THERE INTO RACING, LIKE AFCO'S. TO BE HONEST I WANT THERE OTHER KIND THEY HAVE, BUT WAS NOT REALY SURE I WANTED TO PAY THAT MUCH...THERE BIG GUN GAS CANISTER SERIES! YOU KNOW I F I PROBLY DO MY RESEACH ON THESE , I BET I COULD FIGURE OUT MYSELF, HOW I CAN MAKE THEM FIT UP! THATS COOL YOU GOT A SPECIAL SECRET..LOL

Boo... come on release it alread..lol...at least tell me so i can get rid of te crap suspension i have on now.... I need an intervention...lol

Whitebeauty, I'M WITH YOU, WE MUST KNOW THE SECRET...LOL

I WILL POST UP SOME PIC'S WITH IT ALL BUTTON UP TOMORROW...I FORGOT TODAY TO TAKE A PIC.

Rob

Also...in fitting the bottom spacer is a little 2 wide for that lower bracket, ended up my pop use his leath machine to mil it down about 3 mm to fit properly..u may want to cut the rubber a little bit to fit also..had a little tuogh time with the rubber spacer getting stuck....or you can pry open the bracket..but it springs back a little doing so.
