Lowered truck, shorter shocks?

Hey guys and girls,
I'm looking at lowering the truck using the XII performance street drop kit . My question is this; Is it easier to find appropriately sized shocks to use with the shorter springs or is there cutting and welding to be done? I would rather not perform any surgery in case a return to stock height is required. I'm also a terrible welder. If anyone has asked this same question and found an answer give a shout.

U dont need to do anything with the shocks. Your only issue will be bottoming out in the rear. Without qa1s

It's more or less a bolt on kit and like said above, recommend getting the QA1'S to keep from bottoming out, they go in place of the rear shock, bolt on!

The shocks are fine wiith this kit. both front and rear will bottom out before the shock would get damaged. there is still plenty of travel in the front. the rear is limited with the frame design. It is recommended to swap the rear shocks for QA1 to prevent bottoming out. you can adjust the dampening to your ride preference and also increase as needed for those days that you use the X as an actual truck. :top: The front, you're stuck with the stock Bilstiens. We've tried to talk QA1 into making us front adjustable shocks, but they don't see the profit. The only current way to be adjustable in the front is to go all out and go with the coilovers in the front.

I have the kit with stock shocks and it takes a lot for me to bottom out. QA1's would be nice but in my opinion, not necessary. Then again i don't do a lot of heavy hauling.

That's the main thing. It all depends on what you use the X for. We have a lot of customers still rocking the stock shocks with no issues. Road conditions, hauling stuff, towing stuff, etc etc. all have a factor whether QA1s are "needed" or not.

I have 2" lowering blocks on the rear, and I plan on hauling motorcycles.

The QA1 shocks are the first things I want to upgrade.

How easy is it to adjust damping?

Also, is there a front shock equivalent, that is not a coil-over?

There is no front shock equivalent, coil over is the only option. The QA1'S have an adjustment knob on the bottom, 18 settings.

Thank you sir! I'm trying to sort out my new to me truck and i'll stick with QA1's first and save up for coil overs.

That's exactly what I am doing! Sometimes those back chunks are available to do it all at once!

Thank you guys for all your help. Sorry for the delayed response. I don't use my truck for much more than the occasional passenger or two at the moment and just wanted to be certain that what I was planning was sound in nature. I am curious about how much faster the shocks will wear after lowering though?
