So this might be a stupid question but what do exhaust manifolds have to do with emissions? If the cats are toast then I can see your hydrocarbon count being that high. They told you the manifolds are shot or the cats? Are you running O2 SIMs with the stock manifolds or did you go back to the stock O2's? Shouldn't you be getting a code on bad cats? Why are they sniffing your vehicle if it's back to stock or is that a Cali thing?Exhaust gurus, please help this guy out.

they told me the cats in the manifolds were bad, im not sure why these would get a higher count than my dtlt but i have the oem o2s and they are brand new since one went bad i just replaced them both, and the truck had a cel with the lt but now its running perfectly with no cel so im puzzled as to why that is, im just runnin out of options the truck is in perfect condition and its not passing my fiancees 97 4runner passes with flying colors no problems and its just a shame toyota made these trucks manifolds so damn expensive. i went to a different shop and they told me the gas might be running too rich so im trying to burn this fuel off (cant just drain it bc is wont clean up off the internal engine) and they told me to put $10 of reg gas on it burn that off and put more cheap gas on it and bring it back...idk seems like a long shot but im willing to try anything at this point:frown:

After installing the OEM headers, did you reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery?

That's what I was going to say^ might need to have your truck get used to the new setup it always takes some time to learn a new or old mod

hey guys so did all of the above disconnected the batt over night, after the manifold exchange. no change thought the cables for the maf sensor were bad due to the mod i did when the urd intake was in so i bought the urd extension cable and just did a whole new set of cables and maf sensor to make sure nothing was bad there, nothing. keep taking it to diff smog places and one guy told me the ecu needed to be reprogrammed i dont know about all that my truck was never s/c so either way i took it into the dealership to have it inspected maybe those damn noobs know something i dont i just dont know why it keeps saying the fuel intake of the truck is too rich making the emissions mess up and not pass....poor x has seen less than 100 since march, i still turn it on a couple times a week and let it warm up along with my infiniti but it saddens me but what else can i do! i must drive a stick automatic g ride is good but it doesnt feel the same! :argh:

waiting to see what they say when they call crossing my fingers here....ps no cel light, changed plugs new from urd, new maf sensor, manifolds are in....truck runs and feels great! only mods left in it are the magnaflow exhaust and urd SS with optical mods as well not engine related.... so what else can i do :dontknow:

hey just a thought. when I threw on my urd intake it was throwing up codes I tried the new maf cal and cleaning it but it still threw codes. So then I took off my throttle body too and cleaned that up and ever since then i haven't had a problem. I know your not getting a code but if you haven't cleaned your throttle body in a while it might help.

Got it serviced at my 50k interval before I got my headers couldn't be it but I'll check!! Thank you!
