Oil burner

For over 4 years the X never took a spoon full of oil. We had an extremely cold winter. Used 0W30 for all that time. I would check the oil level one a month and no changes. Only 90000 km on the X. Drove the X once a week and decided to check the oil and it was 3 quarts low on only 7000.km since the last oil change and may be 1500 km since the last check. Check compression and got 205 to 210 psi on all 6. Plugs were black, same as the exhaust and the O2s. Scope the piston, same, black deposit. The idle is at 700 rpm and good throttle respond. Valve guides or oil ring ????? :hmmmm2:

There have been a few 1GRs that had this sudden high oil consumption problem.

No knocking yet occasional smoke and I change from 0W30 to 5W30. I'll just drive the crap out of it. If it blows, swap will be next.

id pick up a cheap one and see how much oil its keeping out of the intake. it might also help with how much oil your truck is burning too.

I have this problem have to add a quart about 6k in to the 10k I wait to do an oil change. No leaks just vanishing oil

If I was using oil on only 6k, I wouldn't be worried. It goes a little sooner then that. Never used any before. Maybe I'll install a double by-pass and never have to change the oil ever, just the filter at 8000 miles.
