Well, I figure with all the power builds blowing up, id post an update....unfortunately its all gone to shit over here too....engine is knocking, bad coolant leak, no oil pressure. Putting my truck back to stock.

.... my bad, forgot I dont have a built V6.

Everything is going swimmingly. Finally got tuned, made about what id expect. 362whp, 359lbft. Nice flat torque curve with a very conservative pisswater 91 pump gas tune. Not bad for a stock engine with just full exhaust. :top:

My throttle problem was due my previous tune, being configured for a automatic transmission. The entire time the ecu was looking for a TCM that didn't exist....

Next up will probably be cage. As much as I want crest the 400+whp with cam and valvetrain... I need to get the cage done first!

You're right... There are some mad crazy experiences with trying to upgrade this 1GR. If my engine goes boom; Its a no brainer, I'll take my chances with a lsx engine. Is Shane the only one that has been successful?

I mean shit, I want to see folks succeed...but I just couldn't sleep knowing im a $15-$20k guinea pig. :ahhhhh:

Cage, heads, and cam.

I mean, as easy as they are to swap on those engines, and as cheaps as an upgraded set is. ^_^

I gotta look into the right option for me. Im not looking for a highrpm screamer. Im looking for Torqiest cam out there. Possibly switch to a FAST manifold to match it. I gotta figure out who knows the magic combo for that. Heads are also expensive as hell. I dont wanna spend $1000+ for 15 peak hp. Lol.

Guess I should update this. Did a drift day at Irwindale and realized the 3.15s are way too tall. And the truck needs a cage asap...

Truck is caged....and been regeared to 3.58s. Took it out to Barona drag strip and ran a 8.27@88mph. Fused my clutch to the flywheel..so I went back to my roots and went back to a spec stage iv. Been in holding up fine.

Registered for a drift weekend in feb 21-22 at willow springs. Should be a fun weekend.:top:

1st 2nd and 3rd on goat trans are allready shorter geared then normal t56. 1st is 40ish, 2nd is a **** hair past 60. And right at 90 in 3rd. Biggest difference I saw is coming out of the hole. It used to bog in 1st coming out of the hole, now it just boogies...and the 1.9 60' confirms that.

When I go to cam it, I'm not going to run a very aggressive (hi-revving) cam because I'm going for max usable power. So odds are I won't be revving much past 6400-6500, which is the stock red line. :top:

After you came by the other weekend I show the pics I took of your engine to my dad. He was like holy shat that's insaine. Good job on the truck sir. Sounds so weird when you pulled up. Sounded like a camaro coming down the dirt road.

Thanks. It's definitely catch people off guard. Hell, it catched me off guard.... When I got it dyno tuned, the tuner wanted to test it and make sure it was 100%...so we (my coworker and I ) stayed behind and watch him pull out and drive away....for a brief moment I turned into a 12 year old girl. I laughed and giggled because after 4 years or so of the same soundtrack, I couldn't believe that glorious racket was coming from MY truck. And when he punched it, I nearly died of giddiness. :biggrin: I don't care how fast you make 4.0l Tacoma go....it will always sound like every toyota truck v6 since the 3 point slow....and frankly, it sounds like dookie.:eviltongue:

Just watched your latest upload kevin, very nice. I want a wider angle view next time. Maybe a chase video showing a full shot of the beast. You and Billy are doing things, I know I'm out here in but **** Egypt but hit me up on mod days, I may make it, then again, I might not. Still hit me up. Just don't invite me to qualcomm, lol.
