Turn signal problem

My right turn signal has been going off on it's own intermittently, it's been happening more often lately and it's starting to get irritating. First, I thought it's probably the flasher relays, I replaced it with another and the same thing still happens. I tried hitting the relays while the turn signal is going off on its own thinking maybe the right turn signal relay is stuck, but that doesn't seem to work either.

I do notice it seems to happen more often if I have the truck sitting for a few days without starting it, so I thought maybe it was a low voltage problem causing the relays to go crazy, but that wasn't it either. If it were low voltage causing the relay to go nuts, the problem should go away after driving the truck, but the problem also happens intermittently while driving. While the right turn signal is going off on its own, I can hit the turn signal arm down, turning on the left signal at the same time, haha, that makes me think the turn signal arm isn't the problem. Anyone else have this problem ? anyone with this problem ever figure out what the solution is ? I haven't really dug in to the truck to try figure this out, YET, but I think I will soon.

Just an update to this problem. Seems like the turn signal switch is the problem. I think the contact in the lever arm may get sticky once in a while (maybe heat and humidity). Seems to be better after I give it a good whack with my screw driver.

Finally confirmed my problem with sporadic turn signal problem. Just recently it went from an intermittent problem to a permanent one. My right turn signal was stuck on.

Good news is that with it now being permanent, I could finally track it down and confirm it. The part that was causing the problem was the headlight/turn signal switch. After testing it, I found that the contact between ground and right turn signal resting at 12volts, it was hovering around 7 - 8volts making it unstable. Didn't take it apart, but probably a break, or corrosion inside on that contact. Picked up a new switch and everything is back to normal again.

Only took a whole two years to troubleshoot, haha.

If it were a Bimmer instead, you'd never have a problem in the first place. Their indicators never get used...

Similar issue on my 2001 Subaru Outback. Turn signal module started smoking. Took it apart, and cleaned it out. Added some more dielectric grease, and Voila. Good as new.
