2013 fuel pump change, lift bed or drop tank?

Hey guys, I'm about to start a fuel pump change on my 2013 X. I've searched the forum and couldn't find this discussed so I'm sorry if it's been spoken about before.
I've done fuel pump changes on S10's by dropping the tank and also lifting the bed, and found it much easier to tilt the front of the bed up to gain access to the pump. Just wondering has anyone tried this, or is there something unique about the xrunner that makes this method a bad idea?

i just did mine. i was thinking about removing the bed but i was by my self. wasn't that bad to drop the tank. did it in my garage on jackstands

Drop the tank. It is easy and lighter than a bed, for one man.

Yeah just run the tank almost empty and drop the tank.

Ok cool, thanks guys for posting your replies. I'm almost done installing the magnuson supercharger and as soon as that's finished I'll be putting in the URD fuel pump upgrade.

alot easier to empty the tank with it out too so you know you have 93 in the tank

If you have the equipment, or a couple friends to lift the bed I think it's about as easy as dropping the tank.
I did the job myself and dropped the tank.

I dropped the tank. With a near empty tank, I did it by myself. I did a Jenga. I stacked two sets of two x fours until they reach the tank. I released the tank from the frame. Using a floor jack, I would drop the tank by one two x four at a time. The two x fours help steady the tank until you get it low enough to man handle it.

Thanks guys for your replies. I think I'll tackle this job tomorrow. I've been searching youtube and all the forums and cant find a good write up or video on dropping a 2nd gen tank if anyone can post up a link I'd sure appreciate it.
On the plus side, I finished the supercharger install yesterday!!!

be careful with those yellow clips that lock down the fuel lines. one broke on mine and the dealer didn't have them in stock so it was down for about a month. it was weird because the first one came off without a struggle.

I used 3 friends and pulled the bed off like 6 bolts 3 plugs and it was off plus I wasn't laying on my back. Offer beer to some friends and you will be thankful for the help. Worth the beer too.
