My engine is soaked in heat and I was thinking if I should get some spacers and elevate the hood about a 1/2 inch or so to let out heat quicker. I do have some boom mats lying around somewhere. No performance issues as of yet but just concerned.

There's little to no benefit to opening the hood scoop. The aerodynamics of the front of the truck push most of the air over the scoop. Basically just a good way to get the engine dirtier. How are you gauging heat soak?

Feels unusual that my fenders close to being hot to the touch. I agree opening the hood scoop wouldn't do so much for cooling it down much.

How does your intercooler sit? The scoop may not take in air when opened, but heat rises, and it'll have an out (sort of) in wondering if you need the engine cooler, perhaps a cooler intercooler, a way to force colder air in there or a colder thermostat, but this is all theory as I really don't have a clue

Do you have any data to support this? Is your temp reading above 190? Is your intercooler coolant reading way out of wack compared to normal? Are we talking about under normal driving conditions or racing? Where are you located? What are your ambient air temps when you've noticed the "hot fenders"?

It sits on the front of the radiator as Magnuson guide stated. I have found some solutions which I will instate soon.

No, just by touch as I stated above. Temp is reading normal. No, nothing seems to be out of the ordinary except excessive heat. Normal driving conditions with little sprits. Bay Area. Its was in high 70s at the time. No worries, I'll figure it out.

Well if there's nothing reading abnormal I don't know what you're going to "fix". The only way to lower the engine bay temp would be to reduce the amount of heat being produced inside it. You can go to the colder thermostat that URD sells. That should drop coolant temps by 10*. That's where I would start. You could also do an engine oil cooler, they're installed on the 4WD trucks and the parts are interchangeable. Just make sure you have the proper spacers left over from the S/C install kit. Without the spacers the fan will kit the lines used to run the coolant through the sandwich plate.
