I have read up on this new unite and from what i have read it's a dream for what I want... but i have down loaded the software and found you can not explore any thing just a hud unite and a side bar with some options.

so does this unite have to be plugged in live to gain these options

my truck is tame for now but soon i will get wild pending on what root i go

so

any one have any clue's if i going at this wroung or should i just scape it and lay over a sand alone

As cutting edge as the X-1 was, the UCON-EMS is a full evolution beyond it.

It has software and can be tuned by the user far as I have read

Some simular units have to be plugged in like my micro tech unit in my supra to see the fuel map and ignition map and change it

Haveing no software is a no go just to limted all others hks, greddy, apexi all have pre loaded maps on their piggy back units and your able to tune it if ya mess up and blow your motor that's your own dumb ass fault

The reality is people have done just that, jacked with the maps, screw it up, deny they have done so and black the box.

I got a data log from a guy once that clearly show he was running 6* more timing in boost than the stock calibration called for. It broke a piston. He got all upset and denied he changed anything and yet the proof was right in the data log. So he cries on the interwebs and guess who's fault it ends up being because he won't take responsibility???

Nashman, Here is my .02 on the subject. I wont spend my hard earned cash on something that I have to rely on others to tune for me.
If I blow it up, I suck it up and build another. I have a 2010 and went Haltech stand alone and have not looked back. If you are planning on tuning yourself, or even if you have a tuner you can get it tuned without relying on others. The other added benefit is that their phone support is phenomenal if you do have a problem. The reason is that when they are closed here, it rolls over to the homeland in Australia and you can speak to someone into hours where everyone else is closed. Let me know if you have any questions.
Again, just my .02

Yea, if you want something you can tune yourself the UCON is not for you. It is marketed as a device that is per-configured for certain specific combinations and is self tuning. There is plenty of stuff out there is that you can spend a lot of time and money on getting it tuned.

Gadget, there is no doubt the UCON is a great product. The only reason I didn't go that route is because I want to be able to tinker. That and the fact that I am turbo charged and not supercharged. You are correct in that it has consumed much time to get where I would like it to be. If I only had a dyno to tune on daily or a co pilot....lol. The stage III is still holding up well so far though. Thanks for all you do for the community!

Do you have a lead on one of these units? Like I said in my first post the X1 has been discontinued for quite a few years so I don’t know why you referred to it as a new unit. Some people experienced difficulties in receiving support for the product way back when they stopped producing them so if you do have intentions of going that route I’d make sure the support is still there from the manufacturer so you’re not flying blind if something goes sideways. If you want standalone ECU features I’d tell you to buy a standalone ECU like the Haltech. X1 is still a piggy back unit.
