You said u checked fuel pressure but did you leave the gauge hooked up when you shut it off? Could be all draining back into the tank. Should keep pressure for a while after you shut it off.

I agree with the stumbling idle being more of a sign of fuel troubles. If your sure your checked all the external fuel system for problems, I'd say drop the tank or pull the bed and investigate there next. Kinda sux doing this with a new purchase. It would be nice if the previous owner could help you out.

Agreed, the ghosting portion proves guilt to me. He was a well enough known member on here i believe. I hope he reaches out any day with a problem with his phone or something. But for now, i'm on my own. Definitely stings. I couldn't do someone like that, i could sleep at night!

This week through next I plan on doing these in cheapest order first lol

Cleaning MAF
Cleaning Intake
Run some injector cleaner
New fuel pump relay
New coolant sensor
Cleaning TPS
New FPR
Check ignition coils
New spark plugs

Let me Know if you guys have anymore ideas. I was told by one dealership tech its probably a blown head gasket. That has me sweating but hard to believe. No smoke, No codes, I don't hear an apparent misfire or anything. 70k miles

The mechanic said it stayed good for about 5min and then dropped to 35psi and stayed there. Looked good within spec i've been told.

I would check your ect sensor. The ecu fuels the truck differently when its hot and cold (hot=less fuel cold-more fuel. If it does not know its cold it could cause a long crank. You could use an obd scanner when its cold to see if its reading correctly.

Yessir it’s on my list. Fingers crossed that list cures it.

For the other guys that mentioned similar problems I assume mine shows to be worse?

Mine definitely takes the same amount of time to get started, but doesn't sputter.

Would interested in knowing the battery voltage before and during start up and for the first 15 seconds after start.

Any chance there is any aftermarket wiring in the truck. Security system or anything like that? Remote starter? Could be the immobilized system acting up. Usually when there’s no codes and there a problem it’s usually fuel. You can try new plugs tho too wouldn’t hurt

Nothing like that. All factory from my understanding. Again, sadly the seller wont hit me back to verify my assumption. No remotes or anything like that.
Swapped the plugs, no dice. New TRD FPR goes in Monday or Tuesday when it comes in. Had a buddy (works at Nissan) take it to a Toyota master tech buddy in in town. Made him scratch his head too. Hopefully FPR solves it, if not, ill start replacing sensors, then coils. They confidently tell me there’s no way for it to be a head gasket issue. Reasons stating it runs too good, no misfire on cyl 4 & 6. Ill keep y’all posted

I was reading through this thread and it blew my mind when you said that they told you it’s a head gasket lol. Absolutely not a head gasket issue. I swear some places, you could go in with a creaky clutch pedal and they’ll tell you your head gasket is blown.

Mine had an excessive crank from time to time, about how it was in your video. But it didn’t have that little stumble. I really never worried about it because it never caused any problems. Hopefully you get it figured out though.

agreed man. I no mechanic, but jeez.

Small update: When it is cold outside like it has been for the past week (sub 32) seems to start a lot better. I have taken it to 2nd shop after a buddy checked it over (a waste of time) and they told me they think its a faulty injector. They will have nailed down tomorrow, I hope!

Replaced the battery. Same problem voltage is solid
Excellent, low voltage is the cause of many of the problems
I would go back into the fuel tank next. I do service work for a living and it took me 3 tries to get mine right.

Excellent, low voltage is the cause of a lot of issues. Good to have it ruled out.
I would go back into the fuel tank. Check the line next to the lower clamp for a crack. I had trouble after installing the Wallbro kit so I modified my unit so the line had less of a bend and it’d been fine since.

good to know. The official word from the new shop is a leaky injector. I hope the are right! all the symptoms fit as well as other evidence showing that there's fuel leaking from the back left injector. New injector should be arrive in a few days. I'll keep you guys posted. While the top of the engine is off, I had them remove the valve covers for powder coating

Do you always buy gas from the same station? I had a similar issue with my truck, had extended starts when i would fill up at my local shell. Ran it down low, filled up with exxon, and then the issue stopped. I said screw it and filled up at shell again and then the extended cranks started back up. I chocked it up to different gas.. maybe give this a shot if you always fill up at the same station

Did this get fixed, a check valve and new factory regulator took care of my long crank
