X-Runners as long term keeper?

Just thought I’d throw it out there, wondering what thoughts were on longevity ownership?
Considering that sport trucks are a thing of the past and each year less X’s are still on the road, the X-Runner is becoming even more of a rarity.
The thought had crossed my mind of selling mine, but I’d probably miss it for sure...

I've had the X for 6 years now. Like you point out they could become somewhat of a collectors item. They are reliable, nice to look at, and fun to drive. Everybody I know that has sold one goes on about how much they miss it. I want to get my money's worth out of it. I'm going to keep mine for a while.

I've had mine since 07 with 6 miles.....it's going nowhere. If the value of special edition FJ Cruisers are any indication our values should hold or climb going forward.

Six miles? As in you brought it home and put it on jack stands and never used it?

lol, ok gotcha. Your first response kinda reminded me of a good friend who traded in his pristine 2015 plum crazy hellcat that had only 250 miles on it. In return he bought a new demon, flat bedded it home from the dealer, and now it sits on jack stands.

That's not right....why buy them if you're not going to drive them IMO.

I am going tt keep mine it the last of anything new I would ever buy I just dislike every new car or truck out there. but I sure do miss my 94 toyota pickup.

and the only x runners I like are the 2005 and 2006 after that toyota removed the lsd and brought in auto lsd bs and trac control/yaw control that you can't turn off fully.

onew day i may swap to the 2014 front end

I bought a 2011 new and still have my 91, that I bought new, as my daily. I try to drive my X only in nice weather. The dogs get into the 91, never in the X. 16,000 miles. Don't plan on selling it any time soon.

I've had mine for about 4 years now. I like it for all the reason already stated. The popularity of Sports trucks may be in the past, but I love the complements I get almost every time I drive it. Probably why I will keep it for the unforeseeable future.

They changed out the diff after 07 if I recall. Think it was the year they went to the led tail lights. I have had mine since feb 24th 2006 I bought it brand new with 8 miles on it and it now has 13X,000 I will never sell it. It has become part of me and how most ppl know me.

would the value go up with mods such as: tranny swaps, LS/2jz swaps. I assume superchargers will help. Had mine for 2-3 years. Paid cash, don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. Love me some Xfest

Down the road the only ones worth any real value will be optioned out untouched originals with low mileage. I’m talking pristine examples with optional supercharger and big brake kit. Even then (IMO) they won’t be worth much, you may as well just mod it to your liking and enjoy it.

They're def worth keeping (ESP if you have a new frame) ive owned my 05 for 8 years (new frame done Aug 2018) so im def keeping her. Though mine isnt original color so i know the price wouldn't be as good as if it were original but that just means more mods for it.

ive seen your truck before at cars & coffee in union, nj by Kean University.. looks reall clean and nice!

HEY BILLY! HEY MARK!
Billy, dude, you put a lot of work into that truck to just let it go.
Mark, you have like 7 X-runners now, right?
Either way keep the trucks! Comin' from a guy that's seen y'alls trucks.
Hope to see y'all at the next meet!

Thanks! Ive given it some thought, and think the X is a keeper. Although X-Runners are still a little known vehicle, those who have them realize two things for sure: the rarity of owning one, and the just plain cool factor.
I was thinking of selling mine and getting ZL1 or Z28 Camaro, but now I’m thinking I’ll keep the truck and maybe still buy the car anyway.
Thanks again for the compliment on my truck, I’m looking forward to the next gtg and maybe some Toyota car shows this coming summer if I could find any on the east coast.
