BS. But like stated there are things later that will make u loud. Just be careful because opening exaust comes rasp. Flowmaster IMO is the worst sounding on our trucks. Headers will loud her up. But when u add the Y u may want to look at addin a res muff. Most of us running lt and a y running a cat back exhaust run a second muff to cut down on rasp. But I can tell u my set up is pleanty loud but not too loud. Just right IMO

if you do long tubes or a y-pipe or both you'll lose cats and get a lot more volume out of your exhaust. also if you wanted your new muffler to sound louder you needed a much smaller than stock muffler. a 14" muffler sounds good with the rest of the exhaust stock

NC has emissions inspection so I don't know [I don't think] I could ditch the cats. I just got some quotes for long tube headers with installation and it will cost about the same as a 3/4 drop hardware and install. The Borla is tiny (21") compared to the stock 'tank'.

I very likely drop it before more money goes into the drive train.

    Thanks for the input Tommy.

whoa a set of long tubes installed shouldnt be even close to a 3/4 drop installed. headers cost about the same as the drop but the drop takes twice as long to install and you need to get an alignment done after the drop. all said and done the drop costs twice as much man

and ya a 21" muffler is way to big to make a noticeable difference over the stock muffler. get a 14" magnaflow

here ya go man! if you wanna save a bit of cash buy these. same thing as the doug thorley header just not 304 stainless and a lot cheaper :top:

I got a full exhaust on my Corolla XRS a few years back. It was a bit tinny at first but it settled and got more throaty after a couple months. So I kinda believe it.

Mufflers are packed with a fiber glass type material. It will burn off. They do get louder. Motorcycle exhausts are made to be repackable. Mufflers aren't re pack able but the muffler will get louder. Not bullshit at all.

    ^^^Agreed sir.

www.burnsstainless.com makes mufflers that are re-packable. They come with a hefty initial price, to be able to re-pack for $20, though.

Some muffler is pack with combination of steel wool & fiberglass to help prolong the life of sound absorbing material. Steel wool is place near the perforated tube where it see most of the heat to help prevent burn out. Fiber glass fill in the rest of the chamber.

Give it a week or so and the sound level will increase a bit. If still not satisfied, like other people suggested, and some noise maker like headers and/or y-pipe.
