Lost second clutch last night during a nice easy drive to the grocery store. Luckily, it was on the was back and I could coast into the neighborhood. Last little hill needed a push by 2 of us to get up and then I could coast into the driveway. Guess I'll be getting it towed to the dealer on Monday.

I'm at 63,000 miles, but I have the extended warranty. The last clutch to go happened before the TSB was released, so corporate only gave 1/2 back after the TSB was released and said if it happens again they will give back the other 1/2. I still need the dealer to verify this time it has the same problems associated with the TSB. More to follow...

Two weeks later and the TSB did not apply and extended warranty did not apply. I now have the Stage 3+, URD Lightweight Flywheel, and URD TSK45.

So far so good. I'm driving real easy the first 500 miles. With the lighter flywheel, the RPMs go up quicker, but it seems to grab better. After next week I'll be commuting to DC regularly and should get a better feel for it.
I posted on another page about T/O bearing that comes with the SPEC 3+; even if you use the TSK45, check the height of the SPEC supplied bearing vs the stock one that is in your truck now. It appears SPEC is packaging the wrong size. Also, I changed the white plastic gromet at the bottom of the shift arm because it was half worn.
Let us know how yours turns out.

What was it you had said in the other thread? That they were shipping out the throwout bearing for an FJ right? Or something like that?

The guy at SPEC said the T/O bearings for the FJ and Tacoma are the same exact size because they use the same engine - so they only pack the one size in the kit. The bearing they sent me is 1/8 inch shorter. I'm hearing from reliable sources that the FJ bearing is 1/8 inch shorter too. I haven't called them back because my truck was put back together late on Friday with the TSK45 and I wanted to be sure there was no other problem - I'll call Monday.

yall will love it... i got about 30k on that set up... if you can look past the cattery flywheel its great!! the chatter to me was a little "uneasy sounding" at first even though it is totally normal.... once you learn to shift past the point of chatter you will love it!!

Yeah I have that same setup and the chatter is kind of annoying at first but you get used to it and it makes up for it the way those suckers grab

yeah they are pretty loud, makes you almost think something might be wrong, but they do grab hard

Fixed under warranty no problems, Rep tried to tell me it could be a belt. I told him it was the T/O.

a belt? lmfao what a idiot. the squeal with the t/o bearing is gonna come back for some reason the way they either designed the t/o bearing or the input shaft it creates heat right there and allows for the squeak i have greased my input shaft sprayed it with white lithium there is just no fix for it so i say poor design

I just bought a 07 x-r. Notice the clutch was slipping on the test drive. So I got a good deal on it. Order urd flywheel and stage 2 clutch before finding this. Glad I made the right call On that. Toyota should be ashamed of this. Lean manufracting stricks again.

throwout bearing! it completely embarrasses me when i pull up somewhere and it starts squeaking. is there any way to fix the problem without replacing the throwout bearing itself?

wow! this thread is a nightmare to read :ahhhhh: i get a scratching noise when i shift from 1st to 2nd at low rpms and it grinds going into 5th a little when reving high. i'm wondering if changing the tranny oil to amsoil will help my clutch and tranny last a little longer

From what I have read and been told the only way is to replace it. Mine is screaming right now. My stage III, flywheel and TOB should be here this week. Got them all from URD
