I think everyone is aware the Toyota reflash is still available. I'm curious if anyone has done any specific testing to compare each tune?
If you go on tacoma world everyone some people have been fine using the bully dog and others not so much and end up buying a new ecu and doing trd flash.
Thanks I'll check it out. It does seem to run well, pulls great off the line and no noticeable seat of the pants issues, however nothing beats a proper a/f tune. I come from a C5R vette that was custom tuned, and the Hellcat is going to HHP in June for a full package including cam so it should be at least low 10's when it's done. The 2013 Tacoma is a fun little truck, I only wish there were more tuning options for it
URD stocks the Magnuson supercharger kits. The 4.0L system is sold two ways: 1. One with tuning. This one is CARB approved and comes with full warranty. 2. Without/Tuning. This one is not CARB approved. Does not come with a warranty. The CARB approved tuning version uses Magnuson's own proprietary calibration file and uses the included BullyDog device to flash your stock ECU. URD has done some testing and the Magnuson calibration file is different from the Toyota/TRD dealer reflash. It is mostly in the VVTi system and it does not make as much power. URD does have a calibration file for our UCON-EMS that will cover either the Toyota/TRD reflash, or the Magnuson Reflash, or even NO REFLASH at all. The UCON can run that Supercharger better than either reflash. OK, options. If you live in California you should purchase the version with tuning so you can get the CARB sticker. If you do not get the version with tuning you cannot get the CARB sticker. Toyota is not supposed to flash your ECU is you do not have a TRD version. Yes, some people with contacts are getting their's reflashed at the dealer. Just remember you cannot unflash it and go back to stock. You can get the Magnuson and the UCON and that makes a great combo. Of course the URD Supercharger system is still the best...... If anyone has any questions, let me know.
TRD says 304 hp/334 lb-ft (crank), Magnuson 1 hp/1 lb-ft more, what's the estimated with UCON with no other mods than the Magnuson/TRD supercharger?
I wouldn't purchased an N/A truck, and then buy a supercharger. I bought my X with a blower on it already.
I too, would like to know what the UCON would add with supercharger. Would it be different with a Toyota flashed ECU?
