I know it is a different car but i have a few friends that have the GTO with long tubs on them but for their tubs going to the end of their car they put in removable cats so when it comes that time for them to go to emissions they just simply go under the car and unbolt the straight pipes after the long tubes and put the cats back in. this has worked for them over the years and have been able to pass everytime with no problems so if you do end up going with the long tubs there are always ways around the system that will let you pass.

You can put a cat between the y-pipe and the muffler and that shpuld pass the sniffer test.

If you put the stock Y pipe in there is a very good chance it will pass the sniffer test.

You will get better power and performance from the DT LT headers.

Not having the front cats will not hurt the engine.

    It is worth a shot.

I know plenty of people that passed a sniffer test with just the rear cats in.

And if you don't have a MAF Calibrator, or other form of tuning device installed on the truck your tuner is correct. The stock ECU can not be tuned.

I have the DT shorties with the stock cats welded onto the back of it. Passes smog in the state of California no problem. I do wish I had a midpipe to get rid of the post cats, though.
