June 2012 : TOP RIDE
Buck and Amy's 2008 Speedway Blue X-Runner
The Story Behind the Ride:
I'm generally not one to keep any vehicle very long. Usually I would get a vehicle, mod it, then leave it for the next one. Almost thirty and counting now. Things changed while owning a 2001 Dodge Dakota R/T. Thought I had the baddest truck out there. That is until we got almost 100k out of it and the gremlins came out. One thing after another starts to break or just have problems. I've seen an X-Runner here and there show up since they came out in 2005 and I thought it was a pretty cool truck. After fixing the ole' Dak yet again... It was time to get something else before the next gremlin showed up. After all these previous vehicles, thought it was finally time for something new. After looking and looking I finally decided that it should be an X-Runner. Amy couldn't believe it. We have had a variety if vehicles, but for the most part I've been a Mopar or NoCar kind of guy. We searched everywhere (mostly Amy) for an X-Runner and realized that these are not the easiest things to find brand new without just ordering one. Finally there see three within a reasonable drive. RR, BSP, an pd SWB spread out in three stealerships. We didn't want black because I'd OCD to the point of killing myself trying to keep it clean since it would show everything. We've had enough red vehicles. The SWB was the winner! So in December of 2008, we haggled the salesmen, kept the gremlins away long enough to make the take and we were off in our brand new '08 SWB X-Runner. Then another member (WayneR) told us about the greatest cyber place on earth known as XRU. One thing led to another an the mod bug got the both of us. Along the way, we have been to a lot of great meets, met a variety of people, and even became a vendor to help keep the mods alive. Been a great ride and don't plan to stop anytime soon.
