The bushing on my stick failed and now its ridiculously limp. I tried the loose shifter fix with drilling holes and filling with "right stuff" and it still has way to much play. I think the only way that method would be affective is if you did it befor your had any problems.

My question is has anyone taken apart the stick and fixed it using a different method. I was thinking about cutting a small section like 1-2" then welding it back together. The only problem is I like to drive with my hand on the shifter and I'm afraid it would vibrate to much. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it not vibrate if I were to cut and weld it? Thanks.

I had heard of someone using medal epoxy instead of the "right stuff" but I'm not sure if you would be able to get that to work now that its full of the "right stuff"

Yeh, that did sound bad, didn't it. After 9 years of being with the same woman she can assure you there is no stick failure here. :top:

Anyone know what this epoxy is called and will it hold up on its own or should I put a couple of welds on it? If its JB WELD it will crack.

I heard the B&M has heavy vibration and carries a lot of tranny noise, besides I could cut and weld my stock stick myself for free and get the same result. Thats probably what I'm going to do this weekend. Maybe this will be a new mod that will peek interest.:dontknow:

I was going to weld it but after I took it apart and cleaned all that "right stuff" out, which was still wet after a week of being in there, I went and picked up some stuff called "quick steel". Its a putty that hardens, so I packed it in there and shoved it in there. Then I filled the end with JB Weld.

It feels so solid now and it sits about 1.5" lower now.:top:

You took out the rubber bushing all together and just slide the two shafts together with some of that stuff to hold it? Sorry, just curious :hmmmm2:

shorten stick

I did the same thing, with the only exemtion that I drilled two holes to the upper tube and shifter itself, put two 10 mm bolts and filled with the same compound. The shifter is pretty solid and minimum vibrations.

I put the "right stuff" in there and when I pulled apart the shifter a week later it was still wet. It took a while to clean all that goo out of there. I think the only way that stuff will get hard is if its exposed to air. I got that steel stuff for $6 at checkers and it worked for me alot better. The shifting feels so much more solid and crisp plus the stick is a little lower now so its like a new mod, I declare it the GSX Shifter Mod.
