Guys, is the diesel-like sound going to lessen as my TRD s/c gets more miles? I thought the engine tick was annoying.

When u did ur header install did u use that Copper/permatex stuff on the block and header side of the gasket? If not I'm willing to bet that's what ur hearing. Mine does the same cause I didn't use that stuff. Been planning on taking the headers off enough to get some of that stuff on both sides of the gasket to seal this gasket.

Speaking of, didn't you not have any new crush gaskets when you did the header install and had to revert (for the time being) to the used ones? That will contribute. Not to the whining, obviously, but to an annoying tick.

I used the copper/permatex on my headers and reused the gasket. I don't have any exhaust leaks. The noise is coming from the supercharger at startup and idle. Sounds close to what Xacto's in the video he shared.

Diesel like? Are you talking about something vibrating? I'd check it out man.

For instance, how were your idler pulleys installed? I had a second ring sitting against the engine somehow which wasn't mentioned in the install manual. I also wonder how far did you guys tighten down those studs on which the new pulleys sit?

By the way are what I was meaning to ask yesterday also, how is the crankshaft pulley removed, counter or clockwise?

Counter clockwise on the bolt. The Pulley slides straight off.

I'll post a video of it tonight. It's not a vibration noise. Those new longer studs were tightened down just enough. Don't recall a second ring. Thx.

After about 250 miles, it was time to see how well my TRD blower performed on my truck. I did two full throttle runs earlier tonight. WOW!!! I was not disappointed. Getting up to 60 seems likes mere seconds. Before I knew it, I was at 80. My PLX gauge recorded that I hit 4900 RPM.

I can see how this stuff can get addicting.

Over the next day or so, I'll get a data log with Xtune and go for another round of WOT pulls. Looking forward to it.
