I caught a glimpse of the new Z Proto today, and thought it may have some potential. The last good Japanese sports car I owned was a 94 twin turbo RX7 that I bought new.
Since then, I’ve been waiting for something comparable and nothing yet...

I read an article on it today. The author was talking about some of the styling. He liked the big square grill, I wasn't really a fan. But I see how they tried to incorporate the first gen in the back window area and the later 300zx in the tail lights. I liked that.

It looks kinda close to a 240, but honestly I’m still waiting for a real lightweight sportscar out of Japan

I went & Googled it. I like it! I never liked the current model. The new grill looks weird but I could live with it. I wonder what they are going to go for.

The answer is the 1994 Toyota Celica GT4, now being sold in 'Merica under the 25 year rule.

I heard the Z will have a twin turbo V-6. 400 horsepower, and come in manual only. I don't know if that is true or not but I would really want one then.

That sounds pretty good. If they can get the weight down to about 2800 I’d consider one myself

hoping for a few aesthetic tweaks and details on the engine & transmission. it may be a dd for me. i had saved up to get the "new supra" last couple years, but when it turned into a zupr4 i opted out.

right now I'm using some of that money to build a 60x40x14 shop.

The twin turbo V6 sounds promising, but I refuse to set myself up to be disappointed yet again. I’m expecting just another heavy GT.
