just dropped my truck at the dealer to get this fixed. The tech told me that they no longer seal the windshield because that is not what has been causing the noise. He said that after doing sealing the windshields many times, most of the trucks had the same problem again.

So, the correct way for them to fix it is to replace the cowl at the bottom of the windshield. It only takes a couple of hours. will be getting her back tomorrow:biggrin:

wow thats funny...they cant seem to figure out what it is...my a-hole dealer tried to tell me it was my mirrors :hmmmm2:...but if u read the tsb its not the windshield actually being sealed...the molding actually has to be glued to the windshield to solve the problem...after this has been done you should not be able to separate the molding from the windshield...if u can pulls yours up after its fixed tell them they are stupid and to fix it right :motz:...i even had a service manager argue with me for about 15 mintues that it could not possibly be the molding making the noise :eviltongue:

If there's a cross wind coming in just right it will usually do it, mine hasn't done this in a LONG time and I never had the TSB done, guess it fixed it's self.

thats the problem with this one...the artards at the dealer want to hear it since apparently we are stupid and hearing things ....i could make mine do it everytime at 80 mph no matter what the wind was...but they said they couldnt ride in the truck at that speed....and to top it off they told me the noise was coming from my mirrors ...so yeah i was pissed off that day

I dunno mine sounds morelike a whistle at about 65-80 gets louder the faster you go. Since i work at Toyota i had our glass guy come out and he pulled the glass out and resealed it. I still have the noise. He even rode with me before he resealed the glass. I dunno what else to do this stuff driven me nuts.:dontknow:

if you had it done twice and still does it and i done mine once and still does it. HMmm i wonder if it really the sealing of the windshield. I think io the gasket that goes in btween the glass n the pillar on the windshield. Imma fool with it and fick this stuff. Irritating whistle.

they replaced the whole gasket and plastic at the bottom of the windshield that goes around the wiper arms and covers everything.

The tech said that they used to re-seal the windows and that that was never the problem and guaranteed me that this was the new fix. Well two tries later it still does it so they still havnt found the fix

look at the tsb carefully guys...replacing the gasket wont do a darn thing ...and u can reseal the windshield 1000 times and still have the same problem...the piece between the windshild and truck has to be essentially glued down to the windshield....the dealer i went to only glued the side pieces down b/c they are retarded and it still made the noise...so i made them look at the tsb again and they felt kinda stupid..they glued down the top piece and no more noise :top:

go out to your truck...put your finger on the windshiled and go either up/left/right...the piece u touch before the actual metal on the truck is what needs to be glued down...by the dealer of course....they have to call out a glass company to do this....oh and i dont have my truck anymore so icant take any pics for u

take it to a glass place and have them glue down all of the window trim to the windshield...thats all the tsb is ....i wouldnt think that it would cost too much to have it done on your own

I work for a glass company and its the molding around your windshield buddy. Its a three sided molding and if the windshield wasn't decked down properly or if the molding is coming off it will catch wind and create air noise. Also guys 9 times out of 10 the dealership is outsourcing glass replacement. I can not stress this enough: MAKE SURE A REPUTABLE COMPANY IS DOING THIS. They get some "hacks" out there who cold knife it, don't prime, and you can have hellacious rust on your pinchweld and have no idea. These windshields are cake to replace properly, but people will cut corners to save a couple minutes at the unknowing customers expense and you can hide alot under a big three sided molding like these have vs the raw edge of a VW glass where you can see the pinchweld all the way around.

My insurance did it after I broke mine taking off my hood. Oops. But now there are tons of bubbles in it so it needs to be replaced again. Safelite did mine. So idk if that's a good company or not..

Safelite is good as long as the tech is legit. Im sure you're fine, those windshields are fairly straight forward
