Truck running abnormally lean at WOT

Looks like cleaning the MAF did the trick! AF is perfect at WOT now (goes from 13.0 at low RPM and gets to 12.1 by mid RPM up. power is back and truck feels like it used to years ago! I wish I had of thought of cleaning the MAF years ago :-P

Truck running abnormally lean at WOT

actually, it might have been as simple as cleaning the MAF. A quick WOT burst after cleaning it, and the App is showing 13.0 and High 12's A/F ratio (instead of 17+ like it had been showing). my mods list is very short. Old TRD intake, aluminum flywheel, Long tube headers, Walbro 255 LPH...

Truck running abnormally lean at WOT

obd2 data on the gauge from the torque app. it's pretty blatant on both banks. when I go WOT for a full pull, it goes very lean and stays very lean and is obviously missing power (to be honest, I am surprised that I haven't melted something yet). I was thinking that it may be a dirty MAF as I...

Truck running abnormally lean at WOT

My 05 X-runner has been running ridiculously lean at WOT for some time. I replaced the fuel pump at a little over 200K miles with the Walbro kit from URD. This seemed to help a little but the truck still runs lean. To give some history, before changing the pump, the truck would lean so hard...

Pressure Plate Failed CC Clutch *pics*

In the last picture, there is a piece of metal that looks to be jagedly broken / short in that view hole. Originally that piece of metal wraps above/on top of that visible section of the pressure plate spring that can be seen through that viewing hole. I am calling that curved piece of metal...

Pressure Plate Failed CC Clutch *pics*

I guess for the record, I can say thus does happen regularly with aggressive driving on the comp clutch pressure plate. I have had 2 changed by comp clutch in Ga. that had this issue. My current one I fear has 0 tabs left and as a result, drags the clutch disk at high rpms (above 3k). These...

My official OBX (Ebay) header review

THEY DON'T FIT! short review :) the headers bolt up to the engine fine and look nice. the collector flanges come about an inch too short from the stock location, but that is just the start of the problem. since they come short, you can't use the stock collector. but THEIR collector is too...

Rod Knock on a Stock Engine

Thanks for the advice guys, but I have already swapped out the engine for a salvage yard unit from a totaled 05 4-runner. motor had right under 60K on it and appears to run perfectly fine (using my intake manifold and iridium plugs). There is no question what is wrong with my old engine. At...

Rod Knock on a Stock Engine

Thanks for the advice. I should have kept all of my receipts, But I honestly never considered this happening. It's definitely Rod knock. no to ways about it, and it's not going away :(. It's about 30 seconds from a broken rod :(. I picked up another engine today from a 4-runner, and I am in...

Rod Knock on a Stock Engine

OK. My truck just developed severe rod knock last night, and the rod/crank are pretty much guaranteed to be SCREWED (I have a 3000GT VR4 also, so this noise is no stranger to me.........) But my biggest issue is that my truck engine has 125K miles and is virtually stock (I have the AFe TRD...

    One more broken clutch thread

Slight update: Truck now has 106K miles on it. The Fidanza flywheel is holding up nicely. The Competition stage 4 clutch however is not. all the hub posts are worn half way through from the sprung spline section smacking them regularly. all but 1 spring are broken in at least 2 places...

    squeaky clutch/p0430

I got a P0430 from not replacing my Y pipe crush gaskets. The first few times I had to remove it, I didn't have any problems, but the last time I did it, apparently I didn't get a good enough seal. Orange Gasket maker didn't help. After buying 2 new gaskets and installing them, the code never...

    Stock Clutch Goes Boom

there is no way you could have been abusing that clutch with it looking that way. I beat teh SNOT out of my 05 LUK clutch and almost EVERY hub spring broke in 5 to 8 sections. All yours still look in tact. That just looks like a catastrophic failure due to bad design. The dealership should...

    One more broken clutch thread

I'm going with the Competition Clutch stage 4. The Ironman (stage 3.5) was strong enough to hold up to my 700 HP Stealth, so hopefully this stage 4 won't give my truck any problems.

    One more broken clutch thread

Well, my first clutch died early. It was around 50 to 60K miles I think. I had the original LUK clutch that came in my 05. Every Hub spring was broken in abour 5 places. No biggie. I replaced the pressure plate and Disk with new Toyota / Aisin parts (07 model stuff). New disk had beefier...

    Acetone and Gas???

I tried mixing Acetone in with my gasoline a few years ago when it was the latest craze on the internet..............I got 0 mpg increase. go figure.

Specifically what failed in your clutches?

I had the original LUK 05 clutch in mine before. almost every hub spring broke into multiple pieces. Now I have the Aisin clutch (like the one pictured above). I haven't had any problems with it so far (cross fingers)

    Pressure Plate = FAIL

well, been a long holiday week. I still haven't uploaded the pics, but as it turns out, it was actually my clutch disk that failed (I replaced both pressure plate and disk 'though). I collapsed a few of the hub springs (one spring broke at EVERY turn). The new clutch looks pretty beefy...
