Any options for master brake cylinder swap?

Is there Any options for master brake cylinder swap? I have calipers from rx400h lexus and a don't like how the pedal work. Maybe the 1" bore cylinder will fix my problem

You might need an adjustable proportioning valve.. brake fluid is hydraulic fluid it is not compressible. Maybe I am wrong but I don't think a new master will fix that..

Or other possibilities
Air in line still
Bad brake hose (weak rubber)

The proportional valve will control the brake bias from front to rear.

Proportioning valve will only change where the fluid goes to it won't change how much fluid the master cylinder pushes out. With larger calipers and more Pistons more fluid is required to push them. I was wondering about maybe a 4x4 tacomas master cylinder swap but am not sure on fitment or if the bore is larger since the calipers are 4pistons. I have been looking into The swap because I would really like to do a rear disc setup with my 360mm front bbk the stock master can't push enough fluid so I have not went that route yet. I have seen on a few other sites ppl swapping out their master for one with a bigger bore but it was all 4x4 guys and usually older tacomas. Def will be keeping a close eye on this thread.

As far as I have seen, all 2nd gen Taco master cylinders are 13/16" bore. You might try to find the measurements on a Tundra master cyl, though you may run into trouble with provisions for the clutch master. Might need to source a separate reservoir.

Master cyl swaps are pretty common. My 85 has an FJ80 master cylinder to accommodate larger front brakes and a rear disc conversion.

Thanks for the info. I have heard about a lot of the older trucks and getting swaps but I was not really sure with how our clutch is setup as well. I have never personally done a master cylinder swap so if anyone does one and has good results with a write up I wouldn't have a problem trying it myself.

The clutch master is a separate unit, but has a feed line from the reservoir of the brake master, since it doesn't have its own reservoir. It wouldn't be too hard to find a reservoir to attach and bolt to the firewall or inner fender.

Master cylinder swaps are very easy as long as the brake booster doesn't have to be changed. Unbolt old one, bleed new one, bolt on in its place and maybe hand bend a couple hard lines. If the booster has to be changed to fit the new master cylinder then things can get fun.

Ya I knew the masters were different but they shared the reservoir. I got what you are saying about them being easy just not sure if a 1" bore would mount up in the same location

Brake booster delete is very popular in the Honda Community, when deleting the brake booster you will need to upgrade master cylinder. So with that being said aftermarket master cylinders are used frequently to achieve this setup.:top:

Choose new MC (I used a Disc/Disc-capable MC with 50/50 split and separate reservoirs)
Take measurements
Make adapter plate to mount new MC to booster (I used 3/8 aluminum and pressed in studs)
Adjust / Make new booster push rod or linkage if removing booster
Cut and flare stock hard lines
Mount proportioning valve for rear brakes
Make and connect lines from MC to PV to ABS
Bleed

Not yet, it'll probably be a couple weeks before I get everything back together. Hopefully sooner, but my weekends are booked up.

PBU makes an MC and brake booster upgrade for the Tacoma's that's going to be available this month (February).
