Hello my fellow X-runner owners,

My truck just hit 31,000 miles and the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT and SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT are both turned on today. I just had my trucks TRD intake replaced 2 weeks ago, because the one that the dealer sold me originally was made for off road therefore not allowed here in California. I wonder if that had anything to with this issue.
can someone please enlighten me with some advice on what to do. I am worried about my truck. its my baby. please. if anyone has any advice or knowledge about this. please let me know. thank you very much for all of your time. xrunner.jpg

Get the code checked.

I will bet you have a lean code caused by that intake.

if that is the case I have the fix for it.

The 09 and up X is a lot more fun to drive with the stability control off which yours is if there is a fault and your lights are on, my gas would disappear too. I wouldn't fix it.

Did you fill it up, let it sit for 5 hours or more, and then drove it again and the light was off? If this is the case it was likely evaporative codes, and I wouldn't worry about it.

But if thats not the case, you should really go have the codes pulled before it erases them from the stored memory, you can probably get the place you had the work done at recently to at least pull the codes for free, maybe even diagnose it. Also if whatever place switched the intake for you performed the work incorrectly or damaged something then they should be held responsible, too many times i've seen people wait and come in months later and to me its clear it was a specific individuals fault (mechanic), but people in charge do not want to recognize that unless they have to, which its easier to say it wasn't the mechanics fault the further out it is from the repairs performed.

thank you guys. Yes Ive been driving it all week. It has not been back on yet (knock on wood).
if it does it again. I will take it back to the Toyota dealer that did the Intake job but the thing is that the work was done under warranty and my 5 year warranty literally expired 3 days ago.

If something isn't correct with their work on the intake - it doesn't matter that your warranty is expired. They didn't complete the work correctly the first time (If this is the case).

Also on a side note, you can turn off the traction control without having the check engine light on - someone mentioned above to leave it alone for the added benefit of no traction control, I don't know if that was a joke? :hmmmm2::ahhhhh:

Yes the man needs to get the history codes so he knows what happened. Gadget addressed a possible cause and a repair. Around here (NC) you can go to any parts store and they will read the codes for free. Bottom line is what is or was the code, its a waste of time to speculate without it.

Yes I obviously made a joke out of the stability control. Toyota lets you think you can turn it off by turning the light on, once you push the right buttons but it is never really off. For someone like me who regularly takes their truck to the track it is a PITA when the yaw sensor suddenly turns the system back on and it kills the power and slams the brakes on.
