For the tranny open up the fill plug first. Then the drain plug to drain it. Then put the drain plug back in and pump the fluid up into the fill hole until it runs out of the fill hole. Put the fill plug back in and you're done. You can also fill it through the shifter, but there's no way to really know when it's exactly full.

I ran a clear tube from the engine compartment to the tranny fill hole and taped a funnel to it. Jacked up the truck on the drivers side just enough to get under it and threatened my assistant within an inch of his life if he spilled a drop while I held the tube in the fill hole. The tranny feels like new and my assistant survived the experience!

i found it much easier to just fill it through the shifter... and much cleaner (probably)

i stared at the fill hole and scratched my head for a while thinking about how i'd fill it without spilling.. and finally opted for the shifter method..

book says it takes 1.9, i just filled all 2 (leaving a bit at the end - eyeballin it, i suppose...)

... got the job done and i'd say i'm happy with the result.. (tranny oil)

Your friend told you jiffy lube would do it better? Please tell him to keep all his vehicular related comments to himself. Lol

If you have filled your trans with lube through the gear shift I would open the bolt for the fill to check the level.

If you have an air compressor, a blow gun with a rubber tip and three feet of hose, I tell you how to fill your transmission.

Take the cap that is on top of your quart of MT 90 and make a hole in it just slightly smaller than the outer diameter of your tubing. Jam the tube into the cap but not very far. Make sure the tube is a real tight in the cap. Put the cap back on the bottle. Get under the level truck and tilt the bottle down while you put a nice small round hole into the bottom edge of the quart of fluid. A large pick works great. Stick the free end of the hose into the fill hole of the transmission and slowly pressurize the container with your blow gun. Make sure that your bottle of fluid is always pointing down so that the lube flows into the tube. Be real slow and gentle, otherwise you could blow up the container and that makes for an expensive mess.
The first time I did this I was in a hurry and made a mess, but now I hardly spill a drop. The trick is making a nice hole in the bottom of your oil container. It needs to have a great fit with your blowgun.

^^ seems like you figured it out mate, when you do it go through the shifter SOO easy and the Diff was also really simple but once i opened the drain plug the fluid looked really clean so i just plugged it back up and im gonna wait till my next day off and do it see if i feel a difference there
