Just hit 60K, and wondered if I should also change the belt

Just changed the transmission & differential fluids, getting ready to install a new set of plugs & flush my brake fluid.

Since this is my daily driver, and my normal "road trip" vehicle, wondered if I should also swap out the serpentine belt as a preventative maintenance measure.

The original belt is currently 5 years and 60,000 miles old, and doesn't appear to have any abnormal wear or strange noises. Since timing belts normally have a 50-60K recommended change interval, I wondered if these have a similar lifespan. Should I let it ride or swap it out now. How long do these actually last?

I prefer NOT being stranded on the side of the road during one of my weekend trips...especially during the upcoming holiday season.

I just hit 74k still on first set of pads and belts.. I'm about to do a major tune up myself

Its cheap and easy to do on our trucks, since you're doing everything else might as well do the belt too, then like was said you have a backup in the old belt.

Threads like this make me feel like I've neglected my truck :(... 94K miles on original belts (i did spark plugs at 90K miles [And they seemed to be in "ok" shape]) and fluids

I'm trying to make this truck last indefinitely, so I don't want to cut any corners when it comes to routine maintenance. For me it's whatever Toyota recommends, unless I think it should be done earlier. I also try to stick with Toyota parts, so I have to go online to find the best deals. I can always beat my local dealers on parts...even considering what I have to pay for shipping.

I haven't had any issues with the serpentine belt, but it's getting some miles & years on it. $32 is cheap insurance.

I have found village Toyota to be pretty reasonable online

I generally do part searches for "Toyota Parts," and compare prices from the different websites that pop up via a Bing search. My latest purchase was from the Toyota Parts Zone, which was a few bucks cheaper than the other 4-5 websites I stumbled across for OEM Toyota parts.

Right on bro! Yeah if I recall parts zone has slightly better prices but wouldn't sell to me using a Canadian visa.... EVEN though it was shipping to my is mailing addy.... Crazyness I tells ya CRAZY

Noticed my X didn't have a belt routing diagram...strange. A quick online search took me to the Tacoma World website where someone had posted a PDF page from the Toyota factory service manual showing the procedure and the belt routing diagram:
