Picked up the new Pioneer 4300 Double Din today and was wondering if anyone on here is running this same unit. If there is let me know what you think about it. Im still waiting on the dash kit and steering wheel module to come in the mail, so it may be a few weeks yet till I this thing installed. Thanks guys.

This might have been a good question before you bought it haha but I have the 4200 and it's great! I highly recommend buying a bypass, you need a relay to make it work, they sell pre fabbed ones on eBay for like 8 bucks

Lol Ahh ok. I'm not sure if you really need a bypass for that....I dunno about your specific model though. The wire that goes to the parking brake needs to receive a ground signal to turn the screen on. The last DVD radio I had was connected to a toggle switch to cycle the ground signal for the screen. And the parking wire on the DVD radio I have now is just connected to a ground bolt behind the pass kick panel and it is on all the time.

The new Pioneers need a relay to be able to watch videos while driving. It also lets you change setting's etc... while you are driving so it's nice to have that done.

Reason is because with the Pioneers the Parking brake wire needs to see a ground AFTER the unit turns on which is why a relay is needed. gound, remote & ebrake all go to the relay. The remote wire turns on after the unit and that energizes the realy and completes the circuit on the ground side. That is how a relay enables the P-brake wire to see ground after the unite turns on. Google it and you can do it with a basic 12V relay. It's easy and I have done quite a few.

Yeah for the 4100 model and up you need. Relay to turn the radio on a split second after the ignition, I read it all over that there intranet. I have had a dd in the past where you could ground the parking brake wire but apparently pioneer got wise to this trick:dontknow: so I played it safe and got a bypass

edit: ^^^^ what rich said:top: thanks man, I don't like typing much on the iPhone

The last radio I had also needed to see a ground AFTER it was already on which is why the parking brake wire was on a two prong toggle switch...one side was the parking brake wire and the other was a grounded wire. When I wanted to watch something I would cycle the switch and it would come on.

i have the avhp3100dvd. they wired it up to the steering wheel and there is a switch under the a/c controls that looks stock to switch on the dvd player while in drive(in texas it's illegal to view while driving) I guess i could say "I'm driving too fast to watch the dvd!!" its a good unit but doesn't have gps and in direct sunlight is difficult to see the display. If I ever got rid of it I want the alpine or eclipse in dash dvd player.

babyboi...how do you know you are the only br in la??where would one obtain that info?

Haha. Believe me I do my research before I make any expensive purchase. Just wanted to see what people on here thought of theirs. I didnt know about having to install a relay on the pioneer units though. Thought I could just ground the wire like my buddys kenwood. Theres always something else.

Deck is great! I was the first to pull the trigger. Originally had the 4100, but upgraded to the 4200. It is correct though. It you want it to be 100% functional, you need to make a relay bypass.

Yeah I have the PAC unit sitting in my tool box, I just wanna know if it's worth pulling the radio out.

On another note if you want an Ipod cable for the 4300 I got one you can have, it's a 6ft cable but just too short to reach the center console where I wanted it, so for now I just play music with a USB cable and watch movies from the sd card

The iPod cable is too short. What I did was use the USB extender cable and connected it to that.
